Brides Night Out

Hey ladies,
I would be so grateful for some opinions. As brides to be, would you be interested in a "brides night out" group in your town? Getting together with other engaged ladies to exchange ideas and get support? I am trying to start one of these groups in Charlotte, NC.... but I really would like to get some input from my friends here on this forum. The idea is to have a once a month get together in a trendy wine cafe. It is a very cool area, the wine cafe is surrounded by salons, boutiques, etc. The specific cafe has an area in the back with couches and comfy chairs. My idea is basically to sit around and just talk about planning weddings! The stress involved, the excitement, etc. I was also thinking of inviting a "professional" wedding person to each meeting, like a photographer one month to answer questions and give advice. There would be no charge at all. The brides could pay for their own wine, food, etc.

If this was organized in your town, would it be something you would go to? Why or why not? Do you have any suggestions for me? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

That sounds like a fun idea! I wish there was something like that while I was planning my wedding. I didn't have many other brides to be to talk to exept on here. The only thing that I think would be a slight issue (and who knows it may only be me) Is the having to pay for any food or drink. I am sure a place like that can be pricey, and as brides now days we are all trying to save every penny we can. Are you having them pay because your afraid it will cost you to much? If so, what if you do something like getting with the cafe, and see if they would be willing to give you a discount on a few bottles of wine and appitizers, then charge the brides $10-15 or whatever you feel is reasonable, for the price you would be paying as an admission fee. In that case I would be more willing to go, as there is free food and wine, and I am paying to get tips from professionals, and ideas from other women.

I would go! As a matter of fact one of the bridal magazines was promoting something like this when i was planning and I was so bummed that they didn't host one in my area.

I would do one of those it I had one in my area. I agree with the earlier poster. It couldn't be too pricey. Every penny is precious. I feel guilty about buying a ten dollar book now! But it sounds like a great idea!

I would love this! I am so stressed out with my planning and I am sure a lot of other brides are! It would be fun to meet others and discuss planning. I think your idea of inviting a professinal to these meetings is a great idea! They will be able to give brides insights and suggestions to make their day easier!

You know, that is a very good suggestion to do an admission price instead of having everyone have their own tab. A lot of meetup groups do that... and I could even set it up online where brides could register and pay ahead of time. That way I would could work with the owner of the cafe to know what to serve. And I'm sure the cafe would give us a discount. Thanks for the suggestions!
