Hmm...I don't think i'll be inviting our officiant to the reception because he's just some guy we picked out of a louisiana wedding book. However, He doesn't count as an addition to our wedding list so if he chooses to stay that's fine by me as well since the ceremony and the reception are at the same place. I don't think he would stay though because he isn't going to know anyone and that might be weird.

Our Save The Dates came in (the corrected ones) and they look fabulous! Except for a small punctuation error. =*(

They say

October, Tenth, 2010 instead of October Tenth, 2010

FH pointed that out and then told me the city and state were spelled wrong and I about cried but he was only kidding. Now he knows better!

I understand feeding the venders who are working through the reception such as the DJ and photographer. They have to eat.

As for inviting the Offiiiant to the reception it just seems odd. He or she wouldn't even know anyone there. On the other hand I can possibly picture inviting the Officiate to the rehearsal dinner.

I'm having a hard time finding a wedding officiate under ~$300. To me that seems really expensive and honestly I had hate to budget anymore to feed them at the reception as well.

i also always thought it was customary to invite the officiant, and their "guest". Think of it as inviting your moms coworker, who also doesnt know anyone at the wedding, and allowing them to bring a guest. Now, if you know the pastor, then its even more customary to invite them!! And, allow them to bring a guest.

Most reception places only charge half of the regular guest price for the vendors. So, if your wedding is $100/plate, the vendors will only cost $50/plate. so, its not too bad, especially considering you probably only have 3 or 4 vendors (at most).

It is also customary to invite the pastor to the rehersal dinner. Its just like the rest of the bridal party...they need to come to the rehersal, and you thank them by feeding them dinner. You should also invite the pastors "guest"/"wife", etc....same as you would your bridal party members.

Hello October brides! I almost typed Octo-brides but then I was like eww Octomom nevermind.
I was an August bride but we decided to go wild and have a Halloween wedding. Literally on Halloween. I read through several page of this thread (you guys have been busy!) and didn't find any other Halloweddings. Are there any?

Wow, I haven't been on here for a few days. We've been uber-busy. Yesterday I bought my dress!!!! I tried it on again and I had the same over-the-moon feeling that I had the first time I tried it on. And it was on sale so I ordered it. It will be in sometime in January. Yay!!!!!!!!

Let's see, also yesterday I met with a florist. At first I was wondering if she was going to be a waste of my time. She didn't seem like she was understanding what I was wanting. But she pulled through and finally she put together a sample bouquet and it was perfect!! I absolutely loved it. So I'm happy about that. She is putting together a quote and I should have it by Friday.

I met with the cake guy again and paid the deposit, I also told him we were probably going to have to add another 25 cupcakes.

Lastly, I met with a DJ and I loved him. I really liked what he had to say and the stuff he showed me. I didn't sign the contract or pay the deposit because Eric wasn't there for the meeting, but I think we are definitely going with him.

All in all, yesterday was quite productive. We've been very busy this week and I'm exhausted. But it's been fun.

Cheetah, yes we are getting a lot done. I forgot to mention I'm also ordering samples of invitations that I like. I already got one that I ordered, and at this very moment I'm online ordering more samples. I am having the hardest time deciding on what I want for invitations. So this may take awhile!

I forgot to mention before, we're inviting our officiant and his wife to our reception because he is Eric's best friend. lol

Haha...I would imagine you would want them at your wedding then!

So...I ordered 160 save the date magnets because we're inviting about 148 people to the wedding...silly me! We're only sending invites to about 64 addresses. =) So I could have ordered 80! Oh well...it was only $20 more.

AGD: Is the dress you ordered the same as the dress you posted a few pages back?

Oh what a week! We had the closing on our house. We had to pay a bit of the closing costs because that was in her offer but I'm glad that it's all over. We moved into our new house too. I was worried that I would miss our old house a lot but I don't. I also don't miss the mortgage payment! LOL

We also will not be having a little wedding at our new house in October because we kept going back and forth on having a small wedding and then a big party or a vow renewal and I really don't want to do that so we're going to do one big wedding where we invite everyone (probably 100 people). We are planning on taking about two years to plan the big wedding, well really to save up the money to pay for it!

My mom and FMIL are on cloud nine with this news and I'm really happy about it too. I can't wait to go dress shopping! I wasn't going to wear a wedding dress with the at-home wedding plan but now I can.

I hope that you ladies don't mind if I pop in here every once in a while. Good luck to all of you!!! I can't wait to see your photos next year!!!

So yesterday mom and I did some more dress shopping. We both wanted to make sure that the dress I tried on a few months ago is really the one that I want. I also had an idea that instead of my bridesmaid's all in the same dress and color that I would like to have them each in a different fall color. That's when the color issue started. I found this dress that comes in the exact shades I was envisioning, burnt orange, bronze, and a yellow/gold. I was thinking that the dark red that was in my dress would go right along with them, well I was wrong. So I get to trying on dresses and now I'm torn between two, my original dress that I loved, and another one I tried on yesterday.

Here is the original dress that I tried on:

I love that it is just really different.

Now, here is the other dress that I also really like:

This dress is gorgeous. It's all lace overlay on satin with beading around the edges. I never thought that I would actually like anything with lace on it let alone a dropped waist gown. So needless to say I'm a little torn as to what to do right now. Mom actually teared up when I put this dress on.

DeLouise, both dresses are lovely. I think that's going to be a tough decision! I guess my question would be what is most important to you? Having the girls in all different colors or having the dress you love? Why is it that the red doesn't work with the colors you picked?

Honestly, I think if your mom teared up when you put the second dress on, that's a big thing! However, both of my parents loved one dress I tried on that I had on the bottom of my list. I went with the way I felt in the gown -- I didn't even look in the mirror but everything felt right.

Maybe you could take a friend to the shop with you and get a second opinion. Or does dress that you love come with another color than red that might fit in with the colors you want for your BM dresses?

DeLouise, both dresses are nice. but think the lace one looked better on you...and you need to go by how they dresses make you feel, and how you think you look in them.

although the color one is "different", it really isnt that different anymore. Lots of girls are doing the colored dresses now-a-days, so you need to just make sure YOU are happy with the dress and then it will become you.

another thing to think about....when you look back on your wedding are you going to think that your dress was "dated". meaning, since it has color in it, will it look like it was taken 30 years ago when it was only taken 3 years ago? ya know?

either will be nice....but i think the lace is very classic and beautiful

Thanks ladies. I think what is really screwing with me is the fact that I saw the first dress about a year ago and thought that it was beautiful and thought "that's my dress." I liked the way that I felt in it but I still didn't have that "wow this is it" feeling, and mom didn't start to cry. Now, months later I come across something else that I also really like (more and more each day) and I never expected to find another dress. I'm planning on taking my MIL and my maid of honor along with my mom to try on the dress again.

The red that is in the panel won't work with the colors I would like to have my girls in since it's just in a different realm of the color wheel. It's more cranberry and lends itself to the deep reds and purples. I think by going with a different designer and trying to change the color of the red to match the others would just be incredibly difficult. I even showed FH the red against the colors I want for the girls and even he could see that it just wouldn't work. So I guess I'll wait until I can go back to try on the dress again to make up my mind.

So when I went to the florist last week, she said she would email me the quote. I got it today it was about half what I was expecting!!!! I was so excited! I am very happy with what they are doing for my flowers.
