My mom and I went to the Christmas Shop today. We went to the one in Poughkeepsie, NY. My mom said that it was the smallest one that she's been in. There was a million people in there and everything was really picked over. A lot of the items on the shelves were filthy and/or broken. They had about 50 witches on a shelf and atleast 10 of them had broken noses. I was not really impressed but I did get a few things.

MyPhotos233.jpg image by Lydia31 leaves from the dollar tree

MyPhotos232.jpg image by Lydia31 gold plates and napkins with leaf pattern

MyPhotos230.jpg image by Lydia31 tablecloth

MyPhotos229.jpg image by Lydia31 wreath for front door

MyPhotos228.jpg image by Lydia31 mini pumpkin

MyPhotos226.jpg image by Lydia31 salt and pepper set with autumn leaves painted on

MyPhotos225.jpg image by Lydia31 server with pumpkin handle

MyPhotos223.jpg image by Lydia31 glasses with pumpkins painted on them, probably use these as our toasting flutes

MyPhotos222.jpg image by Lydia31 leaf garland

MyPhotos220.jpg image by Lydia31 mini gourds and pumpkins, etc.

I bought two of those three foot gingerbread people. I got a girl and a boy. I had to get them! And they were only $9.99 each!

I think that they had really great prices. I just wish that they had more to choose from. I really liked the mini pumpkin but they only had one. My mom and I are going to go to the one in Albany, NY or the one in CT soon.

The dollar tree leaves seem to be very popular!! LOL

Kelly- Welcome!! Your colors sound beautiful too!!

agd- That was such a cute idea with the cupcakes!! I'm stealing that idea to use for some future announcement.

Toast & Cheetah- I love those little stuffed pumpkins that you guys bought! I wanted to get a few of those but they only had about 5 left and they looked pretty bad so I passed.

jellybean- Sorry about the dress situation. It'll work out!!

I went to the dollar tree over the weekend and I bought $50 in halloween stuff. I wish that I could put it up this year so badly but I can't. The house is supposed to look pretty bare and neutral so I can't really decorate. sigh I love to decorate for the holidays.

I'm glad the cupcakes were a hit! I knew they would be :) Can't wait to see your pictures.

Jelly, everything will be ok :)

Lydia I love the stuff you bought. I really like the mini goards and pumpkins and the salt and pepper shakers are sooo cute! I also like the glass that you will toast in. This is so exciting how we are all pretty much buying stuff and getting ready for next year!

Go to www.photobucket.com and create a free account. Then you can upload the photos from your computer to their website and then copy and paste them on here.

Ok, I think I got it... Seems really big. Any ideas?

This is one pic of my dad's front yard, where we plan to have the ceremony.

AGD, we are doing the ceremony & reception in FMIL's front yard. The yard is huge...but has a big, steep hill and a lot of sporadic trees that are beautiful but will be a limiting factor. Now that I've finally figured out how to upload pictures, too, I'll have to go out to the house and take photos.

I love love love the trees, though. Are you planning on creating an archway? I really want to string lights/luminarias/somthing between two trees to create a fun backdrop for the ceremony. FMIL wants her husband to build us a primitive arch, which I think would also be fun and go well with the outdoorsy feel.

My ring:

I'm not very good at taking pictures of things close up, and doing it in the car was an even worse idea. This is the best one I could get.

This is the dress I ended up getting. I only have pictures with the jacket on, but I'm not whether I'll wear it for juts the ceremony, just the reception, or both. I know I will definitely wear it; it was one of my favorite parts!

This was the only dress I felt comfortable moving in, even though it was definitely the tightest! I was so scared I was going to rip them. The flowers are the ones we bought to use as my and the maids' bouquets. I'm holding two together, and we're going to had a bit more and find a way to make them one bouquet. I didn't trust my self to totally DIY them.

Back view. I originally didn't want a train, but this one just happened to have one. Since we're having an outdoor wedding, I'm considering having it permanently bustled, but I'm worried about how it will affect the pretty line of the mermaid front. FH has a lot of little kiddies in the family, so I was also thinking about having some be "train bearers." We'll see how it goes when I start getting fitted. In July!

Also, all of my faces look ridiculous in these pictures. I kept trying not to cry!

jelly- Sounds like you have a very similar location as we do! It's basically one sloping hill with lots of sporadic trees. I'm not sure how we're decorating it yet. There is also a really cool wooden fence that I can't wait to decorate. I'm going to use pumpkins and fall leaves as much as I can. I'm having my mom plant pumpkins in her garden next spring- yay for virtually cost free decorations!!!

I have a question. Is anybody having a junior bridesmaid? Have you heard about them? I'm having a 9 year old one. We have a 5 year old being the flower girl, so we're having Eric's niece be a junior bridesmaid. What kinds of "official duties" can I give her?

annarebeccal- you can use those tall metal swirly leave things as pieces for an "alter". you can put one on each side of the JP to sort of serve as altar decorations.

or you could put them in the aisle, next to the front row chairs to sort of define your aisle, and that that row is reserved for family, etc.

Anna- I was going to suggest using the spirals in the same way that Toast mentioned.

Jellybean- The train on your dress is gorgeous! I have a marquise shaped diamond too and I love it. I'll have to post a pic.

AGD, My FH has a ton of nieces and nephews, ranging from 3 months old to 11 (right now). I want to find a way to incorprate each of the kids. I've already picked one a the leaf girl (she'll be 3 1/2), but then I have a 4, 6, 10, and 12 year old girls to find jobs for, too. I was thinking about putting two of them in charge of the guest book and two in charge of programs, then having all of them walk down the aisle in the processional to their seats. There's also a newborn girl, but since she'll be like, one a three months when we get married, there aren't a lot of options. Not sure if you would call them junior bridesmaids or not. They'll get "special dresses" that match the theme, but probably not ones that match the maids.

Not sure as far as the boys. They will 2, 3, 4, and 5. I will probably have one of them be the ring bearer. One of FH's brothers will likely be deployed in Saudi Arabia and won't be able to be a groomsman, so his son (the 5 year old) might get that job. We jokingly said we would designate a "laptop bearer" so that we used have skype phones set up so he could be there with us! They're hoping that with his weapons training he'll get to stay in the US and possibly come home for the weekend of the wedding, but I'm not even sure when we'll know for sure. If you have ideas on how to incorporate them, that'd be great.

Also, one of my best friends is a guy. My mom wanted me to ask him to be an usher, but I want him to stand up for me at my wedding, not just escort my crazy family to their seats. He already agreed to be one of my attendants, but I have no idea what to call him! Bridesman? Honored Attendant? Should I just call them all "Attendants" rather than bridesmaids and groomsmen?
