Posted: Sep 7, 2009 3:16 PM

I have DIY'd everything else, so I don't really see the logic in spending $50 plus to buy a preassembled kit.

Have I forgotten anything? I am not wearing nylons (evil beastly things!)

Spare bits to dress

Bride Maintenance:

Bottled Water
Curling Iron
Hair Spray
Hand mirror

All Nail Polish used
Nail Polish Remover

CatS - that's an awesome list. I had an "emergency" kit too and it saved my butt...especially the safety pins!! I took part of it to my cousin's wedding when I was co-day of coordinator, and again it came in handy.

Some things I also included in my Bag-O-Stuff were:
vendor contracts
cash (came in handy...turned out the limo driver wouldn't accept a check)
benadryl
pepto bismol
tums
nail files and clippers
baby wipes/wet naps
tampons/pads
qtips
granola bars

I think that just about covers everything else I included with my 'kit'...Good Luck!! Happy wedding!

Hey Cat,

As a planner, Im the one who packs and brings the emergency kit for the bride and groom and whomever else needs it, so Ill give you the list of whats in mine, as well as the blog/post I wrote long ago about my Top Wedding day Tips that Ive posted here many times in the past. Its helped others, hopefully it helps you too!

http://www.myaislerunner.com/blog/2007/09/page/3/

Top Wedding Day Tips in link above.

In my EMERGENCY KIT:

mirror
mini sewing kit
scotch tape
mini scissors
pens, markers, pencils
mini glue
deodorant
tampons,pads
jergens lotion
shout portable wipes
mini hairspray
hairvrush
comb
lots of pills, aleve, tylenol, midol, excedrin, etc
water bottle small
extra fake ring (just in case you forget rings, you can use anything at all, so I have fakes)
rolaids, cough drops, bandaids, breath mints, sanitizing hand wipes
wash cloth
copies of all documents (readings, entire ceremony etc)
list of all phone numbers,vendors,etc
envelopes (for tips , vendor tips, or any other random thing you may need them for)

tiny pocket notebook

polish remover

kkeenex

lots of bobby pins (these are used more than any other item on my list at each wedding Ive done)

safetypins

toothbrush

toothpaste

xtra pair of socks , black (one time a groomsmen needed them )

xtra ringbearer pillow, if using, or something that can double if lost (this happened to us and we had to make one last minute, so now its in my emergency kit)

If I think of more, Ill add it later. Dont stress over not having all these items, but whatever you have, just pack it all up in a large see through plastic bag if possible, This way you can see where everything is and put things in seperate, smaller zilpoc bags inside the big bag .... leaving bigger items like steamer, brush etc fee inside the bag.

Don't forget the sugar! lol My fh when he gets hiccup it's either sugar or he suffers for hours! Seriously, the only thing that will cure his hiccup is sugar and water. So in my kit I will make sure there is some sugar and a bottle of water hahaha.

My trick for hiccups....? Ask the person what they had for breakfast. No, seriously.... try it next time before the sugar. It takes their mind off of it and forces them to literally focus on something else.

You can also say "Gimme your hiccups" . It is weird, but it works.

I love this thread. I'm gonna copy, paste, and save! As far as the hiccups go, I just do the hold your breath trick. Uncomfortable but it works lol.

I also got some of the clear rubber bands my stylist will be using in my hair....just in case.

WOW!!!! These are all great ideas and must haves lol...some items never even came to mind. I just have one thing I'd like to add. I have bad acid reflux and sometimes it sets my throat on fire..no meds work...my cure????? A spoonful of peanut butter! Works like a charm, and that asking someone a question to cure hiccups...works too! Thanks for the great ideas!

When I was little I would always use sugar for my hiccups! My FH thinks it's wierd and doesn't believe me, I'm so glad I found someone else who uses the same cure!

Just so you know, there are these things which are the height of AWESOME. Dentaburst teeth cleaners. You don't need toothpaste or toothbrush. Get these awesome things. Tear package, slip on finger, walk around and brush your teeth (water optional)
