Tried on Dresses for the First Time!!!! PICS!

Hey gals! Okay, so I know I gripe about DB a lot because I'm really just...not a fan. However, I did want to go there anyway just because I knew they'd carry my size. I was soooo pleasantly surprised!!! Not only did I get to try on four dresses, I found one that is very much on my list. With a year and a half to go at least, I am not buying any dress yet, but I do want to take my time and shop around. That said, here is a copy/paste of my blog post about it:

First, a disclaimer: I know that I'll be wearing some sort of shapewear
under my gown. Why? Because white is see-thru, even thin women have
weird bulges, and because I like the look of my boobs pushed all up
under my chin. So. I don't have any white and/or tan shapeware. Alas,
there is black shapeware in half of my pictures. Get over it, and use
your imagination to remove it.

This is the dress I actually
really like. It's not too "poofy wannabe 16-year-old spoiled princess
prom queen". Those dresses tend to make me gag. I mean, they're pretty, but just not for a 24-year-old young professional. If I were a 18-20 year old bride, I'd feel differently. Or maybe it's just I hate how they look on me. Either way, nay to prommish gowns, I say! Nay! Lol out of control...

This gown is ivory lace
with a champagne lining. You can't tell by the picture, but there are
also a few sparkles around the chesticles. I felt wonderful in it,
and it gave me an hourglass figure, which is hard to do. And, it's
perfect for a garden-y romantic sort of wedding. So I'm kindasorta in love.

Again, it's gorgeous here, minus the shape-wear, but way more beautiful in person.

My one beef with this gown, I'd say, is that it photographs very white, and I really want an ivoryish dress. In person it's great. But I don't like that it gets washed out so whiteishly. If that's my only complaint though...I'll take it.

dress I freaking LOVED in the bridal catalogue. On me? Meh...I don't
know. i don't hate it, but I don't love it either. I feel like it makes
me look extra broad. And it's really heavy and sweaty. I would have
chaffing issues ten minutes into dancing.

This one was a no. It's too high-waisted, and on my short torso, that's no bueno.

I do however quite enjoy the lacy train. It's m y favorite detail on gowns right now, methinks!

In
the meantime of me trying on gowns, I sent Kelly on a mission to find a
bridesmaid dress. She found this MOB dress that I actually think is
quite theme-appropriate! I love it! And since my bridesmaids are going
to be mixed but coordinated, I imagine she'll end up with this one. I
do like the little scarf thinger on her. I do think though that the
bottom is pretty much gonna have to get hacked off. It is significantly
too long for her!

Yeah...I'm going with number two. It is so classy and hip. "Heavy and sweaty" kinda' sucks, but you'll look like a goddess :) ....number two!

I think the first dress is perfection on you. I love love love it, and I got that "here comes the bride" feeling with it, and not with any of the others. I think it totally makes your body look amazing, it accentuates in all the right places, and its beautiful! I love it from top to bottom, a gorgeous dress.

Chels definitely number 1. Not only is it beautiful and the most flattering you, but you look the happiest in it. I love #2 and would like it for myself (if I needed a wedding dress) because it is full in the bottom as am I, however on you I think it makes your butt look bigger than it is, especially when compared to #1. I am laughing at your comments. I also prefer my bosom closer to my chin than my belly button :)

I think #1 is gorgeous, and very flattering to your figure. I love the v-neck and low back! I don't care for #2 at all - mostly because of the bunched fabric in the chest area and the big bow in back. #3 is fine, but there's nothing to distinguish it from hundreds of other strapless/lace/a-line gowns out there.

Chels, love dress #1 on you--simple, flattering, elegant. As for the MOB dress--there's a lot going on (too much for my eyes!), especially if the MOB is not stick thin. I'd look further.

Dress #1 is absolutely yummy!! Stop looking, you've found the one!!!

I agree with Myra on the MOB dress. Not a fan of the fabric cutting across her horizontally like that. It doesn't flatter her figure.

I tried on #2 as well, and had the same thoughts you did! Gorgeous gown, but it just didn't work for my body type. Too bad.

To put it frankly, to me you look like the kind of woman who could walk down the isle in a white washed burlap sack and I'd think you were beautiful. Seriously, you're freakin' gorgeous! (And your maid of honor is so cute!!!)

I would definitely go with the first one... for a couple of different reasons. One, it fits you SO well... it looks absolutely stunning on your body type. Two, the way you TALKED about it. You sounded so excited about it! Definitely a plus.

Obviously you already stated you're not commiting to a dress yet since you have time... but I HAD to pick one, it would be the first one all the way!
Awww... my ticker didn't work.  Back to the drawing board!
