Oh, the hilarity of a well-written answer copy-pasted straight from Wikipedia, followed directly with this glowing gem of English butchery"They are way into cars like rat rods hot rods, tattoos, and they rebuild there cars themselfs.." Libby, no one said that rockability wasn't real, we just said there could be different interpretations of it. Trust me, when a style has been around for 60 years, it's bound to have PLENTY of different interpretations. Also, I will give you $500 if you have any idea what the word portmanteau means without looking it up in an online dictionary.

Anyway, Labryinth is a 1986 film that I thought all children of the 80s must have seen! I'll do it myself, only because I love labyrinth, and can't bring myself to pick a new theme without using THIS photo of david bowie as my groom:

Now that I've satisfactorily re-lived my childhood, here is a new theme - SHREK WEDDING!

(I thought this one might be fun because it incorporates a lot of the fairy tales that people have done already, but with some snarkiness :) )

Okay, three things for you:
1) It is not "rockability", it's "rockabilly".
2) Portmanteau means combining two or more distinct words into one, and then combining the meaning of the words as well. And no i didn't look it up. So where is my $500?
3) Like so many other people in the world who like to think of themselves as smart, you've missed the entire point of my post and have started nit-picking on details that are really quite irrelevant. Okay yeah, I misspelled a couple of words, but the point, my friend, you missed.

Libby if you take this so seriously I can only imagine how tied up in knots you get over something that really is important. Yes, yes its your lifestyle but why is this so upsetting? Its not like anyone is going to be looking for a definition or a representation of rockabilly from brides.com and take a post from this thread and say that this is the definitive answer.

I am from Canada and if Canada was the theme and someone posted beer, Candian bacon and everyone in hockey jerseys I'd probably laugh my butt off. That is one INTERPRETATION of the culture of Canada, but it is not however how I would have a Candian wedding.

1) Oh no! I mispelled one word in my entire post! And it was a word that is barely even a real word! Listen, sweetheart, most of your posts have upwards of 5 spelling and grammar errors PER SENTENCE, and half of the words you misspell are some of the most common words in the English language. But please, continue to critique my grammar.

2) If you didn't look that up, I will eat my hat. Especially since your definition is strikingly similar to the wikipedia definition of portmanteau ("a word formed by blending sounds from two or more distinct words and combining their meanings"), which is seemingly your favorite source.

3) I did not miss the point of your post, you missed the point of everyone else's. When we reacted negatively to your childish response to the rockabilly theme post, not one person said that rockabilly is not a real thing, we just said that there could very well be different interpretations of what rockabilly is (as is the case with other stereotypes, such as goth, prep, etc.), and that you should be more open to other's interpretations. You accused people of having the incorrect interpretation of what rockabilly means, and others correctly responded by saying there are many different interpretations of rockabilly, of which yours is but one. As far as I can tell, you didn't make any "point" other than that....but your posts are very hard to read.

Now Gatsby theme, which is probably the MOST FUN THEME EVER!

I was going to do a Halloween wedding, but sadly I am a teacher and no one would give me the weekend of Halloween off.

I'm going to go with a fun, yet classy interpretation.

Bride's Attire:

Engagement Ring:

Bridesmaid's Dresses:

Reception Venue:

Outside with just candle light! The flowers on the cake would be Black Bacarra Roses instead of the orange or red.

Table Centerpieces:

Again, the pomander balls would be the Black Bacarra Roses!

Next Theme: Celestial (moon, stars, sun, etc.) Good Luck!

Thanks Cat and the rest who called her out! I thought she was kinda rude too, and my thoughts were also; "So what!? That is my way of doing rockabilly!!"
So I put little modern/rock-n-roll twist on it, whats the big deal?

Too funny how dramatic the whole thing got though!

Anyways, I second the green shoes! Super cute!

Libby: My comment to you was simple. We were having fun, and no one was criticizing anyone else's picks. When I posted Leather and Lace, you took it one way. I would have taken it another way. Does that mean yours is wrong and mine is right? NO. It means we took the same concept and went different places with it.

But you didn't like what someone else had done, and you decided to basically say she had not sufficiently done the style you had selected. She responded in the way she viewed it. You see it differently. No big whoop.

I didn't tell you you could NOT criticize her. Or that you should not criticize her. (I don't think it is appropriate in this thread, just so you know, but I'm not saying you can't <G>) I just pointed out that how we view you and what we think of you is based on your posts. I didn't even go on to tell you what I thought of you. I found your post to be rude... and your posts since then have been rude.

Your posts are not improving my (or anyone else's, for that matter) opinion of you. Your comments/behaviour in previous threads have given me an impression of you -- unfortunately, you just keep reinforcing that impression.

This is actually a response to two different posts made by two
different ppl... forgive me for being a little lazy and commenting on
both with in the same post, lol.

First of all, SweetSurrender, I just want to say that ur Shrek-themed wedding idea is
adorable!!! I absolutely love Shrek. Haven't seen the 3rd one, but the
first 2 were hilarious... and very cute.

I also like PrincessBride's idea. Don't know if that's the dress you're wearing for your wedding or just a pic for an idea of what you'll be wearing... but I must say that's a very pretty dress and a very unique alternative to the traditional white wedding dress. You guys have some really creative ideas . I thought mine was pretty creative, but not like yours. Wow. LoL.
