So my FH and I are planning on having an early ceremony with a lunch or brunch reception including cake and champagne. There will be a wide and colorful spread, toasts, background music etc. The problem is that neither of us like to dance and don't think our families will feel like it either, at least w/out alcohol and not that early.
So, basically I am wondering what else we should do? I was thinking of having a slideshow maybe after the meal and as the cake is being served? (unless we move the reception to the outdoor deck) Maybe games- bocce ball, bags, etc? I was also thinking of taking the guests on a yacht lake cruise for 1/2 hr-1 hr and that would be the "ending"?
Sorry I rambled but I am having nightmares about it.
There's no iron-clad rule that requires dancing at a wedding reception. I have been to lots of them that are, essentially, mix-and-mingle cocktail parties.
Having some interesting and fun outdoor games would be entirely appropriate. What else can you imagine? Horseshoes? A mini-putting green? Are there any billiards available at the venue?
The lake tour also sounds great. Consider having lake tours throughout the reception, not just at the end. If the capacity of the boat equals your expected guest list, then just one tour at the end might be best.
