black and white wedding
Posted: May 19, 2009 2:09 PM

Hello to all,
My bf and i recently (like Sunday) were discussing our actual wedding year and he said he wanted to do 2010. First, since he hasn't officially asked me yet, that seems wayy too soon to plan a wedding. I could be wrong. Also, he has the ring, i was with him when he bought it (over a month ago) so it's just a matter of time. But then I realized I haven't a clue what I want in my wedding. Some of you will say 2010 will give me plenty of time, but I don't know. Anyways...

My question is i'm shopping around the idea of black and white with either hot pink or deep purple highlight colors. If i use the purple i wanna add gold. Another dilemma, It would either be a mid to late fall wedding or a late winter wedding. Another thing I'm not sure of. I wanna do a "diamonds are forever" theme with a lot of accents of crystal, pearl and glass elements and I figured the black and white would look lovely with this. But...can you do black and white/crystal in the fall. I know traditionally you use fall colors during the fall and purple would fall in that category, but i don't really wanna do the whole rustic charm thing. It's not really me...

Please give all advice/opinions (good or bad) about whether you think this color scheme is appropriate during fall (b/c that's my first choice) and if you think it's kinda an unwritten rule to use the fall colors for fall nuptials. Let me know. Thanks

Black and white goes with anything, and works any time of year. There is no "rule" that you have to use 'fall colors" in the fall, spring colors in April, or red and green in December. Use what you love and what works in your venue(s). Black and white with purple/lavender would look terrific. I'd accent with silver and lots of crystals.

That is a very good idea. black and white can be so classy and elegant, with cyrstals and diamonds it will put a modern spin on it. =) with that being said, black and white will go with any season. There are so many things that will go with black and white, you could totally run with it! have fun!

I also think black and white works anytime.. I've seen it both in the summer and in the spring and it looked good. My wedding is this summer in july and I'm kind of doing something like that too, except my colors are black and white with platinum/silver and red accents and it's working out really well. I love all the different possibilities you could do and if you look around online there are allot of gorgeous options for dresses, flowers, decorations, etc. I think it's very elegant and unique =) good luck! =)

I had a black and white wedding with a hint of silver. I wanted to add purple but I didn't get a chance. My cake was black and white and my bouqet was white flowers with black feathers. I know it sounds funny but it was beautiful and I had a lot of compliments. In then end do what makes you happy. Good Luck. :)

Thanks to all. I wasn't sure about that black and white in the fall. But it's just so classic and I love it!!! And the white flowers with black feathers sounds very chic and cute...I may use your bouquet for my inspiration :)... Once again, thanks. I'll keep everyone up to date on the progress.

I would have to agree, you can use black and white no matter what time of the year you have your wedding. If the rustic charm for fall isn't you then go for the black and white theme. Those colors goe fabulous together; so elegant and romantic.

I think these frosted glass coaster are really cute and are neutral enough that they would work with whatever theme or color you decide on.

Also, I suggest, since you have some time in the planning process and until you both make things official, I would check around other sites for wedding favors, decor, for inspiration and ideas. You'll at least know what your options are and I'm sure you will stumble upon that perfect favor and perfect element(s) that you want to include in your special day!

Best of luck and congratulations!

I always say to base your colors on what you like, not the season. :) Our colors are black, white and hot pink.

I think you should use whatever colors you like. If you settle for something you don't love youwill regret it. I am doing red and green in March. My future MIL says it's too Christmasey, but those are my faves so that's what I'm using. I am sure whatever you decide on is going to be wonderful.

PS....LOVE those coasters!! I was actually looking at those the other day and have the pic saved.

Honestly this is YOUR wedding and if youre not a Rustic Fall wedding kind of girl then it seems that you are more individual and modern so switch it up and use whatever colors you want! This is totally up to you, you are the one that has to look back on it and say I really loved my wedding it kicked ass. So do your own thing as long as you two like it then it will be fine. Ultimately your wedding is your wedding. Go against tradition, its not for everyone.
Goodluck!!
