Not wedding related but is...
Posted: May 25, 2009 12:06 AM

I have decided to go forward with breast augmentation. My wedding is 9/19/09 and I lost 20 lbs since initially getting fitted for my dress. After trying on my dress (and after loosing 20 lbs) I finally decided that I want breast augmentation. I know that it is not going to alter the way my dress fits and my fiance doesn't mind me the way that I am. At this point I'm exicited to go for it (btw I'm a 32 A) but I'm scared at the same time. Does anyone have any good success stories they can share to ease my mind??

Dear SW,

"but I'm scared at the same time."

I'd be scared, too.

When I was a kid, my mother said "Never have unnecessary surgery". I agree with that.

It's your body, your life and your decision. You did ask for opinions, though, so I am offering mine for what it's worth.

I understand wanting to do this for yourself and it is your choice. However, I think it might not be the best idea so close to the wedding. Recovery can take time if everything goes perfectly. If, God forbid, something should go wrong it might take even longer.

My daughter's friend had it done. She only went up to a B cup (from flat as a board), but is thrilled with the results. The first week was painful, but after that, smooth sailing. One of my friends did the same, with the same results. Just give yourself enough time to feel great and have no restrictions on activity before the wedding. And, do know, this IS surgery, and there are no guarantees of anything when you make this choice.

Southwick-

I had breast implants put in 7 months ago and I absolutely love them. I went from a 32A (barely fitting the bra) to a Full C almost D cup. I am 5'1 119lbs and Im 24. I used to sit in my closet and cry because I felt nothing looked right on me. My fiance tried everything he could to not let me go through with the procedure. after 23 years of being self conscious and crying every time i went bra shopping or clothes shopping he realized why i wanted them.
He helped me save up and I had them done October 23 last year. I am a baby when it comes to pain, i cant stand it, Im a wus. The surgery went great, I came home, didnt feel a thing but Im assuming it was the anestheia still taking affect. Went home, cleaned my house, did the dishes, and took a nap. once I woke up from the nap, thats when the pain kicked in. To be completly honest, it wasnt as bad as I though it would be. The most I complained about was the PRESSURE, it felt like someone was sitting on my chest the entire time. My skin was being streched which caused the pain. I had the implant put under the muscle, when my muscle tried to recopperate it caused some pinching pain. But all in all, I 100% love my chest and do not regret it at all. Any other questions, just ask. Im not shy at all.

Thank you so much for the advise. Hearing about your experience definitely makes me feel better about my decision. My surgery is schedule for tomorrow morning so I'm having some anxiety. I have all the confidence the doctor I have chosen so I know deep down inside that I am making the right decision for myself. Much like you I have spent numerous times trying on clothes in my closet (which my shirts are either an extra small or a size 0) and not being able to fill out anything. It's so frustrating and while I understand people's opinions that it's not necessary (because it's not) but I do feel it would have a huge impact on my self esteem and just feeling good about myself.

I really appreciate you sharing your experience. I'll have to let you know how everything turns out! :-)

Just be sure to not get them too big - this also presents more problems then you realize. I've always been more endowed (D cup) and was quite thin when I was younger - NOTHING fit.

Make sure the size fits your body.

I'm probably going to have mine reduced at some point - my back can't take it and I'[m sick of people talking to my chest.

Thanks PharmToxGirl!

Yeah, I'm going with a full B to small C. My plastic surgeon and I talked about that alot. He explained the size that I could go but I've decided to be a little more on the concervative side. I have 3 sisters and believe it or not, my oldest sister ended up with large breasts and had to get a reduction. I don't think it's good to be on either side of the spectrum but in the middle works great for me.

So today is the big day and I'm nervous but also very excited.

Thank you all for your posts and I'll let you know how it all turns out!!

Good luck and I hope everything goes well with your surgery.

As we grow older, as we continue to change with age, there is one thing that will never change about me, I will keep falling in love with you all over again every single day

We'll it's been a couple of days since my surgery and I can honestly say that I have absolutely no regrets. I decided to take a look at how they came out last night and was very happy with the results. I still have quite a bit of swelling but each day I'm feeling better and better. The first day was the worst and I honestly can't remember too much of it. Today which is day 2, I was able to manage to go all day without pain medication. So overall, I'm really glad that I went for it. Thank you again for your advise and support!! Good luck with your wedding also!!

YaY! glad you are doing well...told ya..piece of cake.
Is it hard for you too sleep? I normally sleep on my side and with the surgery I couldnt because of all the pressure. I had to sleep on my back which was hell. Whats the worst part for you so far? (just out of curiosity). Do you have lots of pressure and tightness?
