Natasha- Welcome back! Keep trucking with those LSATs, it will pay off! :)

Nessa- YAY!!!!! You're MARRIED now! That's so exciting! I'm glad the day went well and you had a good time. You must be so glad that the stress of planning is over, and now you can just enjoy being a wife!

Autumn- CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!! Oh my gosh! That was such a cute proposal! What a big and exciting step for you and FH. Your ring is absolutely beautiful! I can't remember if you said, but did FH pick it out on his own, or did you do it together?
How about with you other ladies? Did your FH's pick the ring out on their own, or did you go with and help?

Ryanne- How sad about your niece. I'm sure things will work out with your friends though, especially since it sounds as if they've done nothing wrong. I hope she gets better and everything goes okay with the investigation.

I'm back in Minnesota now for just a couple of weeks! A few friends back here and I are going to go dress shopping on Wednesday! :) Eddie has officially graduated, and is having a good time holding it over my head that he has a higher degree than I do right now. He is insisting everyone call him Edward James, MA. lol I get the feeling it's going to get very old in about a day or so. My brother and his wife and two daughters are also in town, and they're staying at my parents house, so I'm staying at Eddie's apartment on an air mattress someone dug up for us. It's weird to be staying in his apartment without any of his stuff there! It's also weird to know that this is the last time we'll be in MN without being someone's guest. Wow! Things are changing so much right now, I feel like my head is constantly spinning, in a good way though.

Well, I hope you all have had a wonderful Memorial Day full of picnics and friends and family! :)

Mari- Wow, you've been busy with wedding stuff! I bet picking out a cake and videographer will be fun. How has your nanny job been going? I'll keep my fingers crossed for Kevin to find a job soon, good luck!

Autumn- That's great that the proposal was a surprise, despite all the talking and planning FH still caught you totally off guard! Planning your budget first is so important. Hope the meeting with the parents coming up goes smoothly and have fun at the wedding show! Oh, and any photos yet? ;)

Ryanne- Sounds like you had a great weekend. I'm sorry to hear about your little niece, is she doing any better?

Nat- Good to hear from you! All of your preparation for the LSAT will pay off and you're going to feel soooo good once you're done! What are your plans for the rest of the summer when you regain your freetime? And I'm so glad to hear that things are great with Nate, he sounds very sweet!

Jeanie- Welcome back to the midwest, for a bit anyway. ;) Your FH insisting people call him by his full name with degree cracks me up. Did you pick out your ring or was it a total surprise? FH and I went to a few jewelery stores to browse together, but he seemed more interested in getting my ring size exactly than looking at specific rings. We don't have any settings or rings picked out or ranked 1-2-3, but it seems like he's got something in mind. We're not very traditional people though, so I doubt any diamonds will be involved. In fact, I once told him that if he was considering spending a grand or two on me for engagement, a ring would be pretty but a DSLR camera would be awesome, not to mention useful, lol. Honestly though, I hope he doesn't spend that much. There are so many more practical or fun ways to invest or spend money, in my humble (and minority) opinion.

Nessa- Thanks for the wedding photo teasers, hehe. Did you dye your hair red like you were considering? You looked beautiful and I can't wait to see that photo of you in your dress bigger than a thumbnail! Did you guys plan for a honeymoon, are you on it now?

Chicochik- Hi again. How is life going and how has your relationship been lately? I know you had some tough times before but if you're talking about getting married next summer, that must be a good sign and I'm so happy to hear it!

So I'm slowly making my way into all the threads I should be a part of around here :)
First, congrats to everyone recently married!!! The photos I've seen look amazing, and are making me slightly jealous...

Anyway, to introduce myself: I'm 20, 21 in August, and my FH is 26. We met through an online forum for our favourite sci-fi author just under 3 years ago, and have been together for 1 year.
He lives in Oahu, Hawaii, and I live in the gorgeous Fraser Valley, BC, Canada.
I'm a "Waiting for the Ring" girl, although we've officially decided that we are getting married (and going to live in Hawaii, lucky me), he's going to propose properly when he comes to visit in July. We're planning on getting married a year later here in BC.
The only one who comments on our age difference is FH himself :) I have many friends who are older than myself by 2-10 years, so it doesn't seem like much to me.

Looking forward to getting to know more future brides! :)

together on a golden thread in a neon sea
we're just children in time machines
trying to find a place to be...

Hey girls!!!

So Delilah had surgery this morning but is doing well. They did a skin graft to create a sort of band-aid to help the burn heal faster. It ended up being a lot worse than they thought, so they ended up grafting the entire burn, rather than just the top of her hand as they had planned to do. D did amazingly during surgery with blood loss and everything, but afterward the place on her behind where they took the graft skin from is raw and had bled a lot--even through the bandages! So that has been a bit of a worry for Jesse and Frankie. Other than that, they are really frustrated with social services because they just won't leave them alone. The police have declared it an open and shut case and aren't pressing any charges or anything, but social services--although they have all the same info as the police--won't let it be. Frankie says that she doesn't blame them for doing their job, and that she's glad they're doing it, but that it is just really overwhelming to still have that looming over their heads, and it's getting to be annoying telling the same exact story over and over and answering the exact same questions. To top it off, they don't have great sleeping arrangements and she is pregnant with their second baby (due in November) so that just makes it all even more difficult. They are exhausted right now. :-( But it could be a LOT worse, so they are just waiting to go home and be done with all of this.

Other than that, Chris and I are horrible procrastinators and have yet to send in our mold tests to be analyzed, but I'm in the process of switching bedrooms. This way we can have our bed back and don't have to sleep where the mold is the worst. So yeah. Can't exactly walk in my living room at the moment. lol.

Oh, and I know it's way TMI, but our love life has definitely taken an upwards turn in the last week. Between the fact that things are looking good for Chris at work (less stress) and this new vita-pack that Chris has been taking, we've been sucessful two nights in a row. lol. Chris thinks he may have had some sort of vitamin deficiency that we didn't know about. So yeah, we'll see if this keeps up. :-)

And...I'm in the process of finding an allergist for Chris to go see because his cough and headaches have not improved and his doc is kind of at a loss. So hoepfully getting an allergy test done will let us know if there is something in his diet that is causing these issues, or if the mold is a bigger factor than we realized. Also, they may be able to perscribe him with something to help his cough and headaches that his doc hasn't thought of--especially if he does have some sort of allergy.

TrueLove--It's so good to see you back! It sounds like everything is going really well for you!

Nessa: You looked so gorgeous!! I can't wait to see more pictures!

Minobot: Welcome to the boards!

Alrighty...I need to go finish my enormous project

Hey girls!!
I know it's been months and now I am helping a friend plan her wedding. We are having trouble finding a type of wedding dress she is looking for, so I thought I'd turn to the girls who could help the most.
Her wedding theme is the 1950's and she wants a 50's themed wedding dress. Any ideas?

Hey everyone! So much has happened since my last post!

Nessa- Your wedding pictures made me tear up, I am so excited for you. You looked amazing. How does it feel to be done the wedding and enjoying the marriage?

Autum- CONGRATULATIONS! I am so happy for you. It is an amazing feeling to have someone ask you to be their wife, I know I was completely awestruck. Your ring is so pretty. The way he proposed was so sweet. (It actually reminds me of mine, with the picnic etc.) I am so excited for the two of you.

Ryanne- I am so sorry about your niece. The whole ordeal your friends are going through is terrible I will keep all of them in my prayers. It is crazy how a simple accident (leaving the iron for a second) can turn into such an ordeal. Not only is their sweet daughter going through something tramatic but the also have to deal with social services. I am so sorry.
On the lighter side, I am glad that things are going well in the bedroom.:)

Natasha- Sounds like you have been really busy. I am glad that everything is going well between you and Nate. It all sounds so sweet. I am so happy for you that you are able to have such a good relationship with Nate and still have a good connection with Chace.

KJ- It is so nice to hear from you. Sounds like you have been doing a lot not only with school and work but also with your wedding. My mom and I are making my cake but, finding a cake sounds like a lot of fun. You and FH are in my thoughs and prayers as you cope with the economy. I am crossing my fingers that you FH gets a job soon.

Chik- What caused the change of mind (again)? I know that I wouldn't be able to wait much longer than I have had to wait, and I only had like 8 months. So, I can understand making it sooner.

My wedding is only like 72 days away. I can't believe how fast the time has gone by. I am so excited because I am now recieving RSVP's and it just makes me smile. We had a lot more to do but things are falling into place and I am so happy that we are getting things figured out. Ben and I have decided about our Honeymoon, and now we just have to book it. Pretty much all we have to do is accessorize our wedding. Do all the sweet little finishing touches.
Question: I am having an outdoor ceremony and reception at the same place, we aren't having dancing at the reception because it is outside so we thought it would be fun to have bocce, croquet, and maybe at an element of the 50's harvest festival idea by having things like potatoe sack races, and egg on spoon rely's. What do you think about this?

Carrot~ I am still in shock that its over, I wake up in the morning and try and plan my to do list....and there is nothing! Our to do today was to get my name changed, but that didn't work out so well, aparently it takes them like 3 weeks to process it and mail the official marriage license to you....

Autumn~ I keep meaning to bring this up, but July 10thsounds like a great day, however I would perfer April, but thats me. Are you not wanting to wait for your fall wedding?? Belive me the time iwll fly soooo fast. We planned ours in 9 months and about 2 months ago I was tired of wedding stuff. When we ordered tuxes, we must have ordered them super early because the numbers they had on file for us were old, we haven't had those numbers since Halloween!! Time is just a blur when planning

Carrot~ How exciting your getting so close!!! 72 days will FLY!!! I love the idea of having the outdoor activities!! However think of the personalities of your guests. Our Dj's surprised us with the Hokey pokey, and I thought it would be fun, but it didn't go over to well, quite a few people thought it was totaly lame.

Mrs. Reno: Something your friend could do is going for a contemporary look but staying true to the 50s style. What I'm envisioning is her in a mermaid gown with a birdcage veil and a simple hairstyle, like a french twist. This page had a lot of great info!!! http://www.weddinggowntown.com/blog/2009/03/20/top-six-wedding-dress-trends-for-20092010/

Also, try looking at red carpet photos of Audrey Hepburn, Elizabeth Taylor, Grace Kelly, Marilyn Monroe, etc. for more inspiration. http://www.moviemaidens.com/index.asp

Nessa: You guys had such a gorgeous backdrop for your wedding ceremony!!

Autumn: Hopefully you get your vendor and a concrete date soon! That always makes things easier!

Carrot: Your reception ideas sound like they will be really fun! It doesn't sound like you are too bothered by not dancing, but my cousin had her reception outside and they danced on the grass. It might be fun to have some music and leave the option for dancing later in the evening once it starts getting dark. Just a thought!

Well, we are now in our new room. I thought about painting but decided against it because I wanted to just get done with it. And from how Chris is talking, it doesn't sound like we'll be here for very long. But then again, who knows? Anyway, our cat Jaye was a huge pain in the butt all night last night. We had to shut her out of the room because she would just sit on top of us and cry. She had plenty of food and water, so I don't know what the heck her issue was--especially since she didn't act like that when we were in the living room. Hopefully tonight will be better.

Thanks Ryanne. I knew you'd be helpful. =)
I cannot believe it is almost your one year anniversary already! That is exciting. Did you save your top tier for your one year?
