DIY Photo Guest Book
Posted: Jan 14, 2009 2:57 AM

Hi, ladies

I'd like to make my own guest own that has our engagement pics in it. Based on posts, I've read her it seems that Blurb.com and Picaboo.com are two good choice, but the posts are a bit old. I'd love to hear from anybody who has done or is doing the same thing? I'm concerned about how easy the pages are to write on, if they smear, overall quality, etc.

Thanks!

I used mpix.com for my photo album and was really pleased with the quality I got. But try them all, I keep getting emails from different sites saying they are running specials and whatnot. Also, picaboo.com was my least favorite when I was trying them all out becuase it gave me the least control over the layouts and the backgrounds, but you may find that you like simpler better. Download a few of their desgning tools and see what works best fo ryou! :)

FH and I are a big fan of the Shutterfly books. We actually just made our guestbook using their 8x8 photo book. I somehow ended up with a coupon for a free one, so it cost us shipping. (Aka, I have no idea how their prices compare).

Their layouts aren't particularly flexible but it's all pretty user-friendly. We were pretty pleased with the book - the pages seem perfect for writing on with bic pens (or other cheaper, non-smearing pens).

We actually think we're going to do them as albums for at least our grandmothers and possibly our parents.

Hello! I made one and we just got it about a month ago! I love it!! YOu can make your own layout-set it up however you want, add your pics, some quotes, whatever! And then we're using it as the sign-in book. Nice little trip down memory lane of our relationship that guests can see and then sign their name or write whatever they want. Ours is an 8x10. I made it on www.creativephotomoments.com it took me a few minutes to figure it out, but once you got it it's easy! Let me know if you have any questions! Good Luck!!

That's a good idea, thanks :). Do you think you can write in the Mpix books?

Wow that's great! Any idea where I could snag a coupon like that?

What style did you use? The cornerstone or story book? Thanks :)

I got it in an email from David's Bridal. I have NO idea why, other than that I purchased my dress from them.

They pretty frequently have buy one, get one free sales on the website though - maybe if there's a mother present coming up or something it'd be worth it.

Bird- I used storybook. And they have different options for you, but I used 11.5x8.5. The people were actually at a wedding show I was at and they told me it made a great sign in book. Something new and different, so apparently they can be written in. The paper feels like it would work well with a fine point permanent marker, even pen! Feels and looks like yearbook paper. Let me know if you have any more questions! And I think cornerstone is something new they just added, it wasn't there when I created my book

I am a little behind in the post, but i was looking at some wedding blogs and found a guest book at www.storiesbyeveryone.com. All of the wedding product is 25% off until the 26th of April. They give 2 options to have it personalized with your pictures or just have the inside pages lined. Has anyone made one of these before, it looks pretty simple, and I need simple, so much to do so little time!!!!

I researched many software programs, and then downloaded and played with a few (My Publisher, Arts Cow). I ended up using Picaboo because I like the price and the interface best. It has nice layout options and background. It was pretty straightfoward. I found a 50% off coupon on RetailMeNot.com, which is a great site for all sorts of online coupons (I also saved 20% on my favors). It hasn't arrived yet, but I'll update when it does!

My guestbook arrived today and I love it! Picaboo was super quick and only took one week from ordering to arrival. The pictures look great and I can't wait for our guests to see. I highly recommend Picaboo and will definitely use them for my parent books.

Hey, try http://www.smilebooks.com/. I believe their software is what you are really looking for - easy-to-use, wonderful background, color and editing options, and much more.

Shutterfly is really good too. And you can have it shipped to Target. I use them all the time with all my photography stuff. And they arent too expensive and turn out great.

....another shutterfly fan here. I have made several guest books for parties and was very pleased with the books. .....the paper is easily written on and the books can arrive as quickly as you need them to. I am going to be using them again for our guest book too....
