I need help with my diet!

Me and my fiance' have not set a date yet however I have set a date on when I want my old body back! I have until September 09 to lose 32 pounds or more! I am 5'3 and weigh 160 pounds! I don't feel fat nor do I really look that heavy but my pants size is a 9 now and my FAVORITE pants don't fit anymore :( All of my family my mom, dad and brothers are overweight and I do not want to be the 5th one! :(

I am not really athletic as I use to be nor have the energy to work out so I definately need some tips from everyone on what works and what doesn't! I sit at home alot because of my fiance's weird schedule so I do have alot of time to work out and the worst part is I am a receptionist so all I do is sit on my butt at work too! But I am ready for a change I am really excited about getting my old body back!

I am thinking about trying the grapefruit diet but I hear different stories about it.

Do you have any friends nearby that could be your workout buddy? I can't imagine what the grapefruit diet is but it may not be the best way to drop weight and then keep it off? I tend to gravitate towards diets that change your way of eating for a lifetime vs. a short time.

What I did, was join (on here) the weight loss thread and everyone works together, motivating each other. We are in the midst of one now, BL10.

And, I set a strict diet (with calorie limits and eliminating certain bad stuff, you know the high carb, fatty stuff food) AND, this is most important. I made myself work out almost everyday, and now pretty much everyday.

Cario and strength training both otherwise it does NOT work as well. I do tapes everyday, and to tolerate them I use my mp3 so I don't have to hear their voices. I also have an elliptical that I use in addition or sometimes too.

Cardio is an hour, strength is an hour. Or more, Saturday I did more than that.

Anyway, it DOES work and you get use to it. It's the only thing that has ever worked for me, and when I've stopped in the past, I've gradually gained the weight back. I was about your height and weight, and hated that I couldn't wear my favorite clothes or my favorite dress from honeymoon anymore. I ALSO hated the pics of me from my daughter's wedding last fall, so beginning jan. 5 I just started, really got going a couple weeks after that, and am down a little over 30 pounds I think between then and now, BUT, am into most of my clothes. Not that dress yet, but almost.

I honestly don't think you can do it without the exercise part, though.

I hate going to the gym, so I do the tapes at home. But as longas you pick something and do it, it will work in the timeframe you listed. I also keep a food journal (which was a pain initially, but habit now) AND have downloaded lots of more nutritional recipes so that I'm not making separate meals anymore. My DH has lot weight as a result, without trying, which is annoying.

Go check out the overweight but inspired thread, that's where the BL10 competition is ongoing right now!! Good luck!
