HELP! 4 Months left till my big day!

I have 4 months left to my big day. I would love to lose about 15 to 25 pounds. I don't have much money so I can't join a gym or start a diet plan. Anybody have some suggestions? I would greatly appreciate it.

The only suggestion I have for you is to do the Atkins diet to see how that works out. You will have to cut out potatoes, bread, pasta and anything that has a lot of carbohydrates. The first two weeks you have to stick to 20 carbs a After that you can slowly add more, but not much! Just make sure you read the labels for serving sizes and subtract the dietary fiber from the carbs to get a true number.

Self magazine has a self challenge. Go on line and you can sign up for free.... I love this magazine because it really offers some cool things.

You know another thing that I did was I bought a work out video and I do it at home. They are not that much and its really like if your taking a class at the gym. Yoga and pilates really work after the first time you will hurt so bad but give it a couple of weeks and you will start to notice how its working....

As far as nutrition goes, just do the popular basics that everybody knows. Cut down the amount of starches you are consuming and when you go for carbohydrates, go for whole wheat (pastas, breads, rice, etc.) Vegetables is the best that you can do on a diet--they are low in calories but can be so delicious so you don't feel like you are depriving yourself. Go with leaner meats and try to go for skinless--fish and poultry are the best. For dairy I'd recommend drinking skim milk if you don't already and not going too crazy with the cheese in meals. Practice portion control, the less you cook, the less you can eat--but make sure you are cooking enough to be healthy. I make the mistake of making too much pasta and then ended up eating it all, really I should just be taking about a handful and a half of the dry noodles per serving. Drink lots of water, it's a healthy appetite suppressant and flushes and cleanses your body. Also don't forget to treat yourself once in a while but try to find healthier alternatives. (Craving icecream? frozen yogurt or sorbet will do the trick. Craving chips? How about those dehydrated apple chips that now come in bags as if they are potato chips?)

As for exercise, just find an activity that you love to do whether it is going out for runs (it's spring time), joining a pick up sports team (soccer, ultimate frisbee, etc.), buying one of those dvd's (carmen electra's strip lessons? heeyyyy-ooo! and apparently its actually a great workout), swimming at a recreational pool, lake, etc.
I would try to get a workout buddy (FH or some gal pals maybe?) because then you feel obligated to work out for both you and your workout buddy. Also it keeps it fun and social.

Different diets and plans work for different people...I know some people abide by that website that has become popular recently...ehh forget the name, pinky talks about it...the one that has you record your calorie intake? Doesn't work for me. I just make my own plan because then I will stick to it.

A couple more tips:

Walk or bike if possible when you're running errands, even if it's only on the weekend.

Drink a glass of water before you eat so you'll feel a little fuller.

Allow yourself a "cheat day"--eat healthy 6 days out of the week, then on the 7th day allow yourself to eat whatever you want. Or if you have trouble waiting the 6 days to cheat (I do), then allow yourself to cheat 2 evenings a week. I've never been really overweight--just 10 or 15 pounds higher at my heaviest--but I've stayed at a weight I'm really happy with for about 2 1/2 years and used the "cheat day" method the entire time. Works great.
