Hey, would love some opinions on this - our reception site offers the use of their hurricane vases to use as centerpieces which typically hold pillar candles. The hurricanes have about a 5 1/2" opening and are about 12" tall so I went candle hunting but had trouble finding any larger size candles.
Will a 3" x 6" pillar candle look too small in that size hurricane vase?? The vase will also be on top of a mirror with votives and rose petals.
I personally don't think that having a smaller candle would be a big deal. When most people go to a reception, I think they take the scene is as a whole and unless they're very cynical, they don't sit down and criticize every detail. I think a smaller candle would look fine, it would just perhaps give it a more delicate look.
You can always put the smaller candles on a layer of colored stones or some sand. That will help fill in the hurricanes some more and make the size difference between the candles and the hurricanes less noticeable.
It's the little things that bring beauty to life...
