My engagement ring is a lab-created blue sapphire, .25 carat, with two diamond baguettes (very similiar to yours Blissful, except the bling is blue and a bit smaller <G>)

Does NOT show off the ring to its best at all

Lighting is a bit better
The setting is a bit 'different'. We intended for the sapphire to be bar mounted. However, it was a bit too big for the setting we picked out. The jeweler did a lovely princess mount -- and it really actually worked out so much better for us.

On my puny hand. (the ring is a 3.75)

We got it at Kays. We bought the setting separate from the stone (the stone was actually in another ring that they had. It was $75 for the ring <clearance ring with the stone I loved>... or we could have spent $150 for the stone alone to be ordered. Our sales rep pointed out the two options and told us we should just buy the ring. It was less. The stone was here. It made a lot of sense.). The setting itself is 14K white gold.

Our wedding bands are plain 14K white gold bands that we are having laser engraved with a custom design. With my hands being as small as they are, this was really our best option. Custom was the only way I was getting anything other than a plain band anyway. When you size a ring down to what it has to be sized for me, it loses integrity. As it stands, the interior engraving is not what we wanted -- because it won't fit in my band (Come What May, September 26, 2009). It's now just: MCJ 09/26/2009 (I'm disappointed -- but that's kinda the joy of having uber puny fingers. And still... the outside is a customized band <see my ticker> that we designed. I don't really need a spiffed up interior)

Misty

Yay, I love to show off my ring!! The E-ring is custom made using the diamonds from FH's grandmother's E-ring and wedding ring. The TW of the e-ring is about 2 carats (I don't know what each individual stone is). It is set in white gold, and both wedding bands are white gold. My wedding band is about 1 carat TW. The stones in both are VS1and are all D or E. I LOVE LOVE LOVE my rings!!!!

BlissfullBride,
our rings are very very similar! Mine is a princess cut solitare, just over 2 carats, E colour. Mine just doesn't have the baguettes on the sides. He didn't pay quite as much, almost, but still way more than I thought he would! He just said this is the one he wanted to give me, and since he could afford it, I shouldn't worry.

I am still wondering if its a pro or con to know how much fiancees spend on the ring. On the plus side.. its good to know what your future husband spends his money on... the con is that its a gift and thats a bit private. The deal with me is that he told me because I know a few jewelers and robbins brothers has a price guarantee.

Wow! I saw some really impressive rings. I'm blown away....

I'm writing mainly to let you know about a site that just launched this week called Does it Sparkle? (www.doesitsparkle.com)

The premise of the site is for you to upload your ring and let others rate it. You can also rate rings that you see. Think of Hot or Not meets engagement rings :-) Something fun to do in your spare time. Just a thought.

Mine is a round solitaire from Tiffany & Co. It's a D color, VVS2 and 1.76 Carat. Here are some pics!

Thank you! My fiance did not tell me exactly how much it cost, but he did say it was between
$25K-$30K.
When we went to Tiffany's together last year (when we started talking about the engagement) I was completely obsessed with the "Novo", but once I tried on the classic, round solitaire I just fell in love with how brilliant it is! My fiance said my eyes sparkled when I saw it....so he knew right then that he'd have to buy me that one...
