Outdoor summer wedding: any makeup suggestions?
Posted: Mar 2, 2009 10:29 AM

My wedding is going to be outside on July 4th. Unless we get as lucky as we did last July 4th (it was actually quite a bit chilly in the late afternoon/early evening!), it's going to be hot, hot, hot. And the kind of humid that only a Missourian can appreciate. LOL I have a T-zone oil problem and my eye lids get really oily on top of all that... what kind of foundation/eyeshadow do you suggest for me? I don't want to look like I'm melting by the time the ceremony is over.

I would suggest using a really good translucent setting powder. Laura Mercier has the best one I've ever found and I'm a makeup junky so I've tested a lot of different ones!!! I have oily skin and this stuff really keeps it under control and keeps my makeup in tact.

You'll need to also buy the big powder puff. Don't use a brush because it doesn't set it as well.

You can find both items at Sephora.

Thanks for the advice! See, I'm soooooo NOT a makeup junky... I rarely ever wear the stuff. I work in an office with almost all women so I don't feel the need to priss up every morning for them. LOL I did think about mineral makeup but the one time I tried it, it mixed with the oil on my face and I literally felt like I was wearing a mud mask all day. Well, I guess I kinda was.. LOL

Using an oil-free makeup base will be esential to keeping your makeup on throughout your wedding day. Bridal Veil Foundation by the Blushing Bride Cosmetics is one you might want to consider. Using an eyeshadow base first will keep your eye makeup long lasting and crease free. Finish off with loose setting powder, plus a bit extra in your T-Zone. Blot with folded up tissues to absorb any shine during the day, and add a bit more powder if the blotting is not enough.

My future mother in law introduced me to this make-up spray matte that is fabulous! It's called Model in a Bottle.
I have oily skin and by the end of the day you could just tell that i had oily skin. After using this product you could never tell i had oily skin. I know it's kind of expensive, but i found an online coupon code that you could use to get 20% off

website is: http://modelinabottle.com/
coupon code (enter at check-out) : FF20

Try to find something that has spf in it! Trust me, outside all day, for the ceremony and pictures, you'll need it! Some of my maids didn't believe me and got sunburned, so give a heads up to your crew as well!

Smashbox makes something called Lip and Lid primer that I used, one end is for lips, the other eye lids, and you put it on before you makeup. It makes your makeup stay on way longer and my eyeshadow looked fresh after 8 hours, instead of half off and falling into creases. The lip prepper part really holds lipstick on, but buy a couple of shades close to what you want to wear, because it did alter the exact shading of the lipstick versus my natural lip color.
