Drumroll please. . .

Week 1 BL9 Results!!!!!!!

First off, I gotta say that we rocked it this week. 9 out of 12 of us got scores over 20 points, and there were a lot of 2lb losses. Sure, not all of us lost weight, but none of us gained (okay, I did, but only .2lbs, and c'mon -- I was sick!!), and it's important to recognize just holding ground as being important when you're trying to change your lifestyle.

So the team to beat in BL9? Dascyndiluck!! They knocked it out of the park with a 4 lb weight loss. That might not seem like much, but it was the highest % weight loss of the four teams. Combine that with their Team Total of 76 points, and they pretty much handed our asses to us. The MVP of that team is easily Cyndi, who led us all in weight loss -- 3 lbs!! She also got a perfect 26 point score, which was matched by her teammate, Katie. Cyndi and Katie tied for most points -- making them a pretty solid block for that team.

Behind Cyndi's 3 lb weight loss, there are a number of you who lost two lbs. Kelley, Cyclist, brix, and MrsHarrisonFord all finished in second for weight loss, followed closely by Liza, and Katie, who each lost one lb. 5in3 and Janice also clocked in some loss this week, 1/2 lb each.

An honorable mention goes to Team LittleCyclistKelley who actually lost more weight than Dascyndiluck -- You guys lost a total of 5 lbs. But remember your percentage weight lost gets multiplied by your point score, and Dascyndiluck's total point score was significantly higher. Also, Team 140 pulled out an impressive point score -- 76 points -- but we didn't ditch as much weight.

Here's a quick rundown of the teams' weight loss and point scores:

Team 140: 76 point and lost .17%
Team LittleCyclistKelley: 55 points and lost .8%
Team linnbrixford: 59.5 points and lost .7%
Team Dascyyndiluck: 76 points and lost .7%

If you want to know how you fair individually against eachother, let me know. I tried to cut and paste the chart, but it honestly didn't fit well, and it was hard to understand.

But, seriously you guys, we are kicking butt right now. Do not let this momentum end. In fact, if you are reading this right now, I triple dog dare you to do a push up, or a sit up, or 10 jumping jacks right now. In fact, I'm going to do them myself right after I post this. . . .

This was a great read. I just got back from my walk, and its starting to get dark. I read this, and I opted for the 10 jumping jacks !! Im so proud of everyone but of course, especially TEAM LITTLECYCLISTKELLEY.... Go Team!!!! Its a good thing Im home alone right now because I looked a fool randomly breaking out into jumping jacks in the middle of my bedroom floor. The cats looked at me like I was nuts.

MrsD thanks for the great breakdowns and percentages and such. Man, I could NEVER do that lol.

YAY dascyndiluck!!!!!!!!!! We ROCK! We can't slip this week, let's remain the team to beat!
MsD, that was downright prompt of you. I'm so glad I'm not in charge of this.
Regarding the, what was it, triple dog dare? I did 50 ab reps and 50 arm reps with 5 pound weights. I quadruple dog dare the next person who reads this to up the ante, or at least match me. I'm going on a walk soon, it finally stopped snowing. Brr.

That was a great first week we had. We seem to be off to a much better start this time around! Let's keep it up guys. Linbrixford is gonna kick everyones butt next week.

Man you guys are going to kill me with these instant challenges! Like Kelley I did 10 jumping jacks, which while it was not good for my back, was kind of fun to get up and do it spur of the moment.

Then I took Katies quadruple dog dare. I have no clue what an ab rep or an arm rep is, but I did 60 stomach crunches and 60 arm raise thingies. I don't have any weights, so I improvised and used 2 40 oz bottles of Bacardi mojito. :) Now I must recover for a few hoours LOL!

LOL rep, short for repetition. I did 25 crunches and 25 side crunches I guess totalling 50. And then I did 5 different types of "arm lift thingies" 10 times each. I'm so glad someone took my quadruple dog dare. FH said there was "no such thing" as a quadruple dog dare and I said "there's no such thing as no such thing". Then I went on a 35 minute walk by myself. I hate walking by myself... I hate traffic driving by and feeling like they think I'm just walking because I'm too poor to drive or something. And this bothers me more as it becomes closer to the truth! I've thought about giving up my car temporarily, but I'm still on the fence.
I forget who had the drama with the bride and the dress straps: First, I would probably bow out at this point because is it really worth $2000 to appease this crazy b!tch who has abducted and replaced your friend? Seriously. But if I didn't bow out, I would definitely sew the straps in. If you pay for the dress, you deserve to be able to wear it appropriately.

MsD thanks so much for posting that! It was fab reading. Congrats to all girls :)

I have just come back from the gym. I decided to start trying to lose weight 3 weeks ago and so I went back in for a body comospition test/fitness test.

As you know I lost my 2lbs. Since I started this 3 weeks ago overallI have lost 2.6lbs (1.5%), gained 1.1lbs of muscle and lost 1.6% body fat = 3.7lbs.

I am pleased - would like more weight loss though! And I am keen to ditch as much fricken fat as possible as mine is way too high.

I also did a VO2 max test and my scores increased by 3 points - I was quite pleased and surprised as was the gym guy. I am one point going from average into good - I think in another 9 weeks I could almost make the jump into very good or even excellent.

So just thought I would post because... why not? :)

Wow, MsD, you're prompt AND you write amazingly well!! And, yay teams!! I did the jumping jacks, everyone thinks I'm nutty about this diet thing anyway. But I have to keep it up...cause since I"m leaving work before April 5, they want me to forfeit in that competition. Mostly because no one else is even trying. We will see.

I'm glad everyone is so motivated. I don't know how my results will fare going on, because I think that working out a lot will mean maybe less overall pounds lost, but more muscle gained? I can tell a small difference in clothes already, and with my legs. That denise austin 5 minute target toning video kills, and I generally do all 10 of them. Then I also am trying to do the firm full workout (which splits up cardio with toning and is about 50 min) every day also. My arms and these muscles I never knew I HAD under my shoulders on my sides, plus my hips are screaming. But, if I can wear what I want for Rob's wedding, it'll be worth the pain!! :)

Ms. D, I think you're right about scales and what they are on, sitting on, affecting the weights. I don't know where I read that, but know that I did.

It is cold again here, so my exercise is all indoors.

Good luck everyone for this week!! For me, the tougher part may be staying motivated NOT to slip back once the competitions are over. That has been why every couple years I have to do this all over again. The older I get the tougher that becomes!!

Good Morning Ladies,

Thank you everyone for letting me know I am not out of line with this bride. I guess I often doubt, since I tended to be a pretty laid back bride. I just wanted everyone to have fun and be comfortable. I had certain things I really wanted, but none of those really affected how people dressed. Yes I did pick out my bridesmaids dresses, however, I worked really hard to get a style that everyone could wear, and they all voted on the dress.

But since I was so laid back, I don't know if I always understand the high maintenance brides, because I really don't see what it matters if we all have the same shoes, or if it is the godiva red rose or the romance red rose. I will probably still sew the straps in the dress, and just judge her anxiety level the day of. I really hope she realizes soon that the improtant part of this wedding is the marriage and not the straps of a dress.

On another note....Great Job ladies!! I am off to a great start with my week. I have gotten in my dairy each day, done my abs each day, and made it to the gym Monday and Tuesday already. I am also planning on doing a second workout today (really just an easy jog) more because it is just so abnormally warm here, that I want to be out in it. Revive my spirits, remind myself that spring will come, and we are in the home stretch of winter. Woohoo!

Me, my honey and our kitties make 4.

Great job, ladies!!! That includes everyone and especially my team! I'm glad we all did well and I will do my absolute best to post a loss this week. I am one, though, who gets frustrated very easily. And the fact that I gained about 10 lbs in 3 months isn't helping me because I think to myself "well if I didn't gain 10 lbs I'd be losing weight to get lower not to get to where I was."

I guess I enjoy beating myself up...however...since FH was recently added to my gym membership he's going crazy :) I added him on Thursday and we've been to the gym every night since except last night. So Thurs-Sun. Kicking my butt! But in actuality it's great that he's doing it because it makes me go too. He's also trying to lose weight for the wedding so we're going to call it a group effort.

Keep it up everyone!

Shauna C...I can't wait!!

Hello wonderful ladies...I browsed through the thread and read a couple of things so I wouldn't be completely out of the loop lol...

Danille so glad to see you in here..I keep meaning to reply to your messages but I haven't be able to get the time so you can read all my news in this message instead lol.

Cyndi I'm sorry that things have gotten bad with you and your DH...things with Dave always get crappy when we are either out of work or unhappy in our jobs...

and on that note here is what has been going on in my life here as of late.

1. I got my DREAM job and start on Monday at ATT Wireless...I don't know if I was a member on here but at one time I worked at Verizon Wireless and got fired after being there 2 months. It was a big mess and I was heartbroken. Now many of you are probably thinking what is so special about a cell phone company and here it is in a nutshell. I AM A CERTIFIED GADGET JUNKIE. I love my phone and get a new one all the time (just got a BlackBerry Bold in December) so for me to get a. inside information on the latest and greatest and b. a DISCOUNT I am happy as a clam lol.

2. I don't know if any of you remember but I had posted about a website that wanted me to start writing for them on a regular basis and it has in fact panned out to the point that I am the new Co-Editor of the site as well as a moderator. It pays nothing right now (very new site just went live in November) but I have met an amazing amount of people from all over the world and its a great community too. It does take up some of my time but at least now I have a hobby that is rewarding. I actually may have Andrea (Mrs.Roy) joining soon. (It's a social BlackBerry site) It's all very exciting.

Ok so I don't really have a whole lot going on but its all new and I am very excited about it all.

On the weight loss front I have been doing some mild choreography for the drag queens at the bar (its amazingly funny to watch a bunch of me try to be a pussycat doll lol) so I have actually been "working out" lately. Its getting me out of the house and I am moving around.

Well I think I am going to jump over to the other site but I have been on Facebook alot so if you see me on there drop me a line. BTW Thanks to Kelley for telling me to come back - I missed you guys

Laters!!!

Ashley

Hey girls! Great job on BL9 week 1!

So I had my interview yesterday and it went really well. I didn't have any major stumbling points and I didn't get the dreaded "where do you see yourself in five years" question. Now its in their hands to decide if what I told them makes me the best candidate! My gut feeling is I did good and may be offered the job but I'm honestly not sure if its a good fit. I will wait and see where I am if an offer comes in. I applied for two more jobs today and I have at least one more application I'm working on.

Frankly, I am tired of it. I'm tired of job searching and applying and waiting. And its only been three weeks. I sure hope this doesn't drag on to three months. I just want to work. The money isn't running out yet, but I'm just tired of it. I feel like I don't have any meaning right now. I mean I have DH and Monk, but not much else. It stinks.

I applied for financial assistance at my gym but the application got denied. Apparently even though our household income was cut in half, we still make too much money. I'd really love to know how thats determined. So DH and I are trying to decide what to do. We joined the new Gold's Gym that is being built literally down the street, but that won't open until June or July. So I'm not sure what we'll do for now. Everything is so expensive. We will likely get back into the Y at full price (I had a discount through work), but since my membership lapsed while I was waiting on the application, we have to pay the $50 joiner fee again. I'm going to call and see if I can plead my case and get the fee waived.

So thats me today. On the bright side, I have roast in the crock pot and it smells SOOOO good! In a little bit I will get to eat it! Have a great night ladies.

One more thing... 5in3 you are not over reacting at all! I don't understand the brides who think they can dictate the earth's rotation just because they are getting married? I mean seriously, bride having short hair so bridesmaids must all have long hair? Rediculous. I think you should put the straps in anyway. But I also think if she continues to be this rediculous, I agree with Kelley (I think it was Kelley) and consider stepping down for the sake of your friendship. I hope it works out.

So you know what helps weight loss?

Having mind-numbing, stomach crunching anxiety. We had a miniature disastor at work on my watch and, unfortunately, I am completely reliant on someone else who is completely unreliable. And even though it's not my fault, my boss is not someone who reacts well to mistakes, regardless of who made them. Can't go into details, because frankly I'm sick of thinking about it, but it has made me all anxious which makes me not want to eat.

The result is that yesteday I only ate about 900 calories, and that was only because I made myself in order to prevent myself from binging later. Same thing today. I forced down some soup so that I don't eat a 1500 calorie dinner. Work is just making me crazy!

Ashley, glad you've got your dream job. Wish it was closer to me because I'm in the market for a Blackberry storm, but I'm waiting for the contract on my current phone to run out.

Jen, I hope you get this job. Job hunting sucks. However, I am one of those people who could totally not work if I didn't have to. I once went 6 months without working, and watched reruns of Melrose Place every day on Lifetime. I never even watched Melrose Place when it was on regular tv but during this time I pretty much saw the entire series.

Jess Im with ya on the job hunting front. Im so over it, and Ive been doing this since right after Xmas and its awful. I cannot take another month where DH has to pay the rent all on his own without my help. This sucks. Im sooo sick of interviews and attaching my resume to endless emails with forced enthusiasm about jobs I dont even want. This morning I had an interview for ValPak, those coupon things you get in te mail, needed some sort of customer service thing and were offering pt at $16 an hour. Not bad, so I applied and they called for an interview. Yeah right. It was a cattlecall with FIFTY plus others there too - and they had us hand in resumes and then gave us a big lecture class type thing on their training process and that was it. I was so pissed. Sick of jobs that arent realyl jobs, or are scams, or arent what they advertise.

MrsD that sucks about the work stuff. I hate when work stuff causes me anxiety, thats annoying. Thats hte one great thing about my teaching job is that they leave me alone, I create my own classes and syllabus, and there isnt too much of that. The worst part is all the grading, but I love everything else.

So I did good today. Had that interview at 10am this morning, got up at 730 and went for a walk this morning, then came in and had breakfast, showered, and went to hte interview. I feel good. Now Ive earned the sitting on my ass hours tonight while watching Idol.

Great to see you Ashley and congrats on your new job prospects! So cool.

GO TEAM. We need a team cheer lol.

"Ashley, glad you've got your dream job. Wish it was closer to me because I'm in the market for a Blackberry storm, but I'm waiting for the contract on my current phone to run out. "

If and when you get it be sure to come over to the site ( www.berrytastic.com ) and visit me...I have pretty much lived there for the past month...Its a great community with a lot of great guys and gals...Do you have a berry now? if so we will have to be berry friends...my pin is 2094bc0F

I have been non-stop this week...I think I am going to welcome work next week lol..it will give me an excuse to not be at everyone's beck and call...

My birthday is Tuesday woot woot I am celebrating on Saturday at the bar because I wont go out on a "school night". It should be fun. I have spent all week working with the queens on the production number (which is coming out pretty great if I may say so myself since this is the first time I have actually gotten a chance to choreograph something for someone else) and its the PINK party and my favorite color is Pink so I am really looking forward to it. Oh and no one has forgotten my birthday this year so thats always good too lol. Last year just about everyone I know forgot and it made me a bit sad. My family is really big on birthdays so I tend to forget others don't really care ya know...

Jess & Kelley...I'm sorry to hear that you are having such issues finding jobs...I wish you lived closer so you could come work with me...they are still hiring...

oh well I am going to get to bed..we are getting those really bad winds right now so I am just waiting for the power to go out yet again (we woke up to no power and no cable due to wind knocking a tree onto the lines)

Talk to you all later...
