Just wanted to see if anyone has stayed or plans on staying at a resort in the Dominican Republic for their Honeymoon. If you have already been, tell me about it. My fiance and I are planning on going to the Carribean but haven't decided to which island. This would help us.

I am going to the Dominican for my honeymoon in May. I haven't been there but FH and I have about six friends that have and they all said it was wonderful. We chose that island because it has casinos and golf courses and the honeymoon package that we got was amazing and really well priced.

I went to the DR a few years ago with some girlfriends. We had a blast! We went to Punta Cana (I'm not sure if there are any other resort cities) and stayed at a Riu resort. There are several (5-6) sister resorts in the same area so you can go visit and eat at any of them as well.

Make sure you do an excursion that gets you out into the countryside to see the banana plantations, sugar cane fields and coffee. The whole country is beautiful (even though it is extremely poor).

When we went, they were building a highway from the airport to the resorts. We took a shuttle and it was nearly a 2 hr drive on horrible narrow, curvy roads. DH's cousin went last year for his honeymoon and said the highway was done and wasn't as bad as a drive.

We are going to Excellence in DR inFeb, it will be our first time there. We got married in Negril and we really liked Jamaica. SOme of our friends stayed at Majestic Elegance in Punta Cana and they liked it except for the fact it wasn't completely adults only.

hi ladies! the fh and i are thinking about a honeymoon in punta cana too! we'd probably go in late june/early july 2009 (right after our wedding - only time that works for us), and would like to stay for a week.

does anyone have insight as to approximately how much that costs (as in airfare, hotel)? we're interested in a nice all inclusive as i've heard thats the best and easiest way to go. any and all information on cost would be SO helpful! thanks!!!

hi,

applevacations.com has the best infor for all inclusive hotels in DR. They rate the hotels using an apple system. (ie 5 apples anre better than 4, a 5 apple hotel includes more luxury).

We're staying at Paradisus Palma Real. It's a little expensive but is absolutely beautiful.

Hi,

If you don't mind me asking how was the Riu resort in punta cana? I've read a lot of negative reviews from tripadvisor bulletins that the rooms smell of mold, is this true? the resort looks beautiful from the pictures.
