Well, I was looking and it seems like there's a post for every other month except for March 2009, so I thought I would get one going? I would love to hear all about your weddings and how the planning is going.

As for me, I just got engaged September 1, 2008 and we set the date for March 7, 2009. I've been with my honey for almost 2 years and we're going strong. We are looking at a place tonight and hopefully it all works out. It's the Doubletree. If it doesn't work out, we're going to just stick with our backup plan of getting married at our church and having the reception at one of two places. We are trying keep costs down as much as possible cause the money given to us we would rather put on a house and our future, than on a day. Good luck on keeping costs down in  Southern California. hahahaha Anyhow, we haven't picked actual colors yet. We picked the tuxes aside from the tie. That will depend on what my bridesmaids are in. We figured out centerpieces, except for the flower in the middle. I think once we get the location, everything else will fall into place.

Well enough about my stuff, as we get more stuff complete, I'll update more. I want to hear about you ladies!!!

We got engaged on September 10th at Disneyland and we are shooting for March 28, 2009.  It's looking like we're going to have a really tight budget and I just don't want to wait longer to get married, especially since I've already waited over a year since we first started looking at rings.

FH is really worrying about the money but we wouldn't be able to save a substantial enough amount with an extra 6 months to make it worth the longer wait.

Today I went and looked at two churches.  The first was the church my parents got married in and if we get married there, it would be almost exactly 30 years later.  The pastor I talked to was really awesome, we talked for an hour about all kinds of things.  He didn't know the pricing though so he will have the coordinator call me.  They have a fellowship hall there but it was a bit small.  Big enough to seat about 90 people which is about what the guest list will be, but there wasn't really any room to dance, though, and my family is big on having dances at weddings.

The second church was my great grandma's church and the church we had her funeral in 3 years ago.  It's not quite as pretty as the first, but it is small and quaint with pews which is what I'm looking for.  (FH and I are members at a church but it is a huge warehouse type space so not exactly good for weddings.)  The pastor remembered me and we went over some details.  He said they usually charge $350 but since my grandma is still technically a member (she tithes to them and everything but doesn't get out much so she doesn't attend very often) he would charge me less.  They also have a fellowship hall, but it is even smaller and can only fit about 60...

I'm thinking the two of them are good contenders, but I am crossing my fingers that the first one is also a really reasonable price because we love sentimentality like that.

We may have to look elsewhere for the reception, though..

I'm thinking cake and punch reception, maybe some finger foods also if there's room in the budget, hire student florists or do it myself with wholesale flowers, lots of other DIY projects too to pull this off...

Finally a post for March 2009 Brides!! I was starting to wonder about it myself. I am getting married March 21.  I'm extremely excited because we have been engaged for a year and a half already.  Things are really coming together.  We just had our tasting for the reception last week.  Honestly, I wasn't extremely impressed with the way things were, and the cake wasn't that great either, but we've already put down money, so what can we do.

I am going with the colors watermelon and lime.  The girls will be wearing watermelon colored dresses and the guys will be wearing lime colored vests and ties.  We have a mix of guys and girls on both sides.

The only thing that concerns me with having a March wedding, is the weather.  We aren't counting on any outside pictures, because we don't know what the weather is going to be like.  If there is fresh-ish snow on the ground, we will probably do some outside pics, but if there isn't, then we probably won't.  We are in the Chicagoland area and if there isn't snow on the ground, the flowers haven't started to blossom yet either, so it's pretty drab looking.  We'll see.  At least daylight savings time will have already changed, so we'll have that extra hour of daylight.  Good luck to all and Congratulations on your engagments.  Live it to the fullest, this is one of the best times of your life.

I am also getting married 3-21-09!! We have been engaged since may and I am soo ready for it to be here! Seems like forever since we got engaged!! We are going with pink and chocolate brown. The brown being the main color and pink the accent. I am hoping that its going to be a great day out because our reception is outdoors!! The ceremony is inside but the reception is out!! Wish us luck!! For flowers i went with pink roses and star gazer lillies and astromeria lillies. We have the cutest unity candle. Its a floating candle!! I love it!! I wanted something that wouldnt just be a big hunk of wax collecting dust on a shelf!! We can actually use it later! Hurry up March!!!!!

Well, it looks like I am the only March 14 th bride EVER! just kidding. Don't tell me you guys are superstitious because it's the day after Friday the 13th? My FH and I picked that day, for that very reason. We are horror movie buffs and find it amusing. Plus spring break for my school starts that weekend and I can take the whole week off for my honeymoon without getting behind in my studdies. Sounds like a blessing to me. I am a little worried about our crazy Texas weather because my ceremony will be outdoors...hopefully.

We looked at that date but because of the spring break thing we would have a really hard time doing a honeymoon! A friend of ours is an engineer for marriot and is getting us the hook up on a hotel room but EVERYTHING was blocked out that weekend. So we went one weekend later. It worked out well though because a friend of mine is having a destination wedding that day and and her maid of honor is a bridesmaid in my wedding, so neither one of them would be able to make it. I am right there with you about the crazy texas weather. My reception is outdoors!! Pray for sunny skies!!!

I would have never thought about hotels being booked. I guess it is a holiday weekend. My FI and I have acces to one of those luxury RVs and are going to take it to a state park for a few days. We both really wanted to stay close to home and just relax with each other at a top secret location (after all the stress of holidays and wedding planning). The other half of our honeymoon will be in the City (Dallas). Staying 3 nights or so, just to goof around. I was afraid if we went away somewhere, I would worry over "maximizing our time" and loose sight of the real reason why we were there. I'm a pisces, what can I say! What is everyone else planning for their honeymoons?

I'm doing pink, too. Rose petal from DB. I'm also thinking about using green as an accent color. For flowers, I definitely want white and pink roses but haven't picked a florist yet.

We have the church as the ceremony and reception location. My dad's friend is a DJ and he's giving us a GREAT deal. Got my dress and all accessories except headpiece and veil. Wedding party picked out. Various other little things. Friends doing photography and videography.

So far so good. Not sure if we can afford a honeymoon. I'm not gonna lie, pretty sad about that. We thought about going up to Disneyland (where he proposed) but even if we bought annual passes, just the hotel would be $900 for 7 days and that's with his AAA discount.. and it's a pretty run of the mill place. It's real close, across the street from the park. We could get lodging cheaper but then we would be staying in a dingy place and I want to be in a somewhat nice place for a honeymoon...

We are going to go to San Antonio for our honeymoon. Due to having to pay for the wedding we cant afford to miss alot of work. But then next early dec. we are planning a vacay to New York (only because FH wont get on a plane that has a lay over or be too long of a flight like to Hawaii). Depends on $ situation then. We are leaving for San Antonio Sunday coming back Wednesday. Just something nice and simple that wont require a lot of brain work!! After all this wedding stuff I may just go a little crazy!! lol!!

I actually picked my day because my parent's birthdays are the week before. Already we have the holidays, FH birthday in January and mine in February, it was too much to do the wedding the same weekend as their birthdays. Good luck everyone!

Hi all March brides:) We seem to be more DIYers and realistic than some of the other months that I have seen.
As for me and my fi we will be getting married in a historic church in the 'burbs of Houston and having our reception at a near by restraunt/bar/church (yes it is all three in one). My girls will be wearing chocolate lace dresses from taget.com. The boys will be wearing chocolate tuxes with sage green vests and ties. So our colors are chocolate/sage/with hints of orange.
There is a slight butterfly theme to our wedding. A quote from Sex and the City inspired my to change my approach to dating and it eventually lead me to the love of my life---"some people are settling down, some people are just settling, and some people won't settle for anything less than butterflies".
For the food we are going for pure comfort. The cocktail hour will serve fried pickles, fried mozzarella sticks, and southwestern eggrolls. For dinner we are serving gormet hamburgers and french fries. My Fi is allergic to alcohol, so we can't do a traditional toast. One thing that the two of us have in common though is an unnatural love for Icees. Our reception site was able to find to get us white cherry (so it wont stain my dress) Parriot Ice. It's not Icees but it is as close as we can get. hehe
I have found the coolest florist she makes all of the flowers out of wood-even the boutonnieres. In need to finalize the plans with her but the price are about the same or cheaper than real flowers plus you can save them for the rest of your lives.
I still need a baker for the cake!!!!!! Why if you say wedding cake the price doubles or triples?????
Good Luck to us all!

Hey March Girls!

Just wondering how the planning is going at this point. We're down to the wire girls!! I'm so mixed with emotions, it's not even funny. I'm so excited that it's almost here and yet at the same time I feel like I have nothing done. Let us know how your feeling as the days just tick down.

Good luck everyone and Congratulations!! Remember that the only thing that will matter on THE day is being with your man and family and friends.
