EAT CAKE!
Posted: Oct 10, 2008 3:39 PM

One of the best parts of my wedding was the cake cutting. I haven't seen many pictures or a thread of the Bride/Groom eating cake. Did you smash it or were you polite? I was polite and so was he! (We had agreed beforehand.)

I would love to see all of your cakes and cake-eating pictures!

I told my husband to be polite, or I was gonna beat him up!  But I did let him kiss some icing off my nose!  It was a sweet moment!

Too cute, nanette!

We heard people in the background telling us to smash it. But I resisted because I didn't want to have to fix my lipstick again....

We were polite. We both agreed before hand that we weren't going to smash.

Wow Linda Jo...you're on a roll with all these threads :)

I didn't do the traditional cake cutting where people watched us feed it to one another because we had already done it before at our engagement ceremony four years back.  This time around, we just wanted a photo op so the photog just took pictures of us "cutting" the cake.  We really didn't, but it made for good pics.

Here is us at our engagement, cutting the cake...I had a picture of us feeding it to one another, but I can't seem to find it...sheesh, I was quite chunky too (must be the stress)...he he:

Here's my wedding cake:

And a close up of us "cutting the cake"

Our cake cutting was rather amusing.

I'm not sure what when wrong when we sliced into it.  I mean, how difficult is cutting a cake?  A chunk (not a nice neat slice) toppled out on to the flowers at the base of the cake.  Chocolate crumbs on gardenias and roses - lovely.  Then the chunk kind of rolled off the flowers and on to the white tablecloth.  So the chunk has left a trail of chocolately goodness in its wake.  Now we try to stab what's left of the chunk with forks; both of us at the same time.  After repeated attempts, we wrangled enough crumbs on each fork to serve each other.

At this point it only made sense to be polite rather than risk losing the forkfuls we had so galiantly fought for.  The cake cutting is one of my funniest memories of the day!

Hi hellokitty!

I really love this site and all the girls on it and I love to interact. Plus I contract/work out of home so it gives me a chance to use my creativity while still keeping up with my work.

Wow-I'm confused-you had two cakes? One for an engagement ceremony and the wedding? They're both huge, too!

Chunky? I hardly think so. You're one of the prettiest brides I've ever seen-I've seen your pictures!

We were polite. Someone tipped the caterer off about this issue I have, too, apparently; I have very little (and increasingly less) sensation in my fingers, and certain textures just bother me. I can't hold dirt or soil or anything like that, for example. I just don't like the way it feels. It gets distorted. I remember ranting about the cake cutting to people, because the mere thought of touching cake with my fingers made my toes curl.

So someone let the caterer know that and they left forks for us so I wouldn't have to hold the cake.

Noc, I think kelley once said that she thought you were one of the prettiest brides she's ever seen, and I agree!

I love your pictures-they're all beautiful!

We're going to be polite.  I told FH that if he tries to smash cake in my face, I'm having the marriage annulled.  I'm not really going to, but I don't want cake smashed in my face!

We were polite. I told DH that if he smashed it in my face, he would have a very lonely honeymoon. LOL. I don't have any good pics of us actually cutting or feeding each other. But, he gave me a really little bite, I gave him a huge piece, and while I didn't smash it in his face, I kinda shoved the whole piece into his mouth. HAHA.

Here is a pic of our cake though.
