Dear bareftbeachbride,

I don't know anything about destinationweddings.com, so I am not helpful in that respect.

However, I do know that Tammy from Elite is fantastic. She goes above and beyond to help her brides out. I'm not even a client of hers and yet she still helped me with a problem I was having. I would highly recommend her if you are still looking.

Dear Tammy,   If you could read postings as they are, stop twisting, changing & creating them and your fuss is mute.  I said one of the best - that comes from my clients.  Yes I have many certifications in the travel industry, am an agency owner, a U.S. Representative for an international country and a trainer among other.  That point is mute.  Yes my clients pay me for my professional services.  A travel agent collects commission, a travel professional is paid for their experience and positioning in the field as well.  The internet posts legal requirements for marriages, anyone can regurgitate them that is advice, that was my point.  Preston Bailey weddings are performed several times a day, every day. They have their place.  There are many Destination Wedding Specialists and the majority know who they are and choose to be comrades in honor.

I am currently using destinationweddings.com to plan my May-08 wedding and they have been fantastic!  Before deciding to use them, I inquired with 2 other companies and after a few initial emails, they stopped responding.  I was completely insulted and overwhelmed at the idea of planning this without help.  At that point, I decided to use destinationweddings.com and have never regretted it!  I know that the $50 deposit can cause some hesitation, but they do put it toward your travel arrangments, so you don't actually end up paying them the $50.  They will refund it if you decide not to use their service.  My agent Stacy Nogaj has always been extremely prompt with her responses to my questions and needs.  I feel completely at ease knowing she is taking care of the travel details.  Also, another poster mentioned they do not help with the legal requirements.  My agent Stacy did help direct me through the necessary documentation and also recommended a company with expertise in this area.  She also found awesome deals on the resort we chose and will price match if you find a better deal!  All our guests have been extremely pleased with her service as well.  Plus, the wedding website is great for posting details about the wedding in addition to providing direct communication with your agent for guests requesting travel quotes.  I know there are other agents competing for destination wedding business, but I don't think you will be disappointed with destinationweddings.com..... bareftbeachbride, I am not sure whats going on with the destination wedding travel folks in here - bickering and being quite childish- but I am going to be really honest about destinationweddings.com since you only asked about them.

Right now I am using them and have been since we decided to get married.  I live overseas and will be getting married pretty far from the US.  I initially felt bad because I somehow realized that their job was to book accommodations, airfare, and connect you to the onsite wedding coordinator and well... I knew I wouldnt have many guest. (which for them might mean less work and less $)  I honestly thought that someone at the wedding site or even the country would be my DWT specialist.  Maybe depending on where you have your wedding and coincidence, your DWT specialist might show up but please understand before you book that she or he is NOT a wedding planner.  You are not going to go to your DWT specialist and plan your actual ceremony or any details of the wedding with them.  It wouldnt make sense since they will not be there anyways.  It took at least $1000.00 later that I figured that out.  Had I really thought it through, I could have contacted the resort (since I actually live in the same time zone) and done the accommodations.  I decided to do my flight accommodations on my own since I will not be originating from the USA.

If you plan to have a larger group of guest... unlike my meager 2.... lets say, at least 10 people or more, I highly suggest going to DWT.  They will handle all of your guest request because you are not going to want to deal with the complaints, and neediness of your individual guest.  DWT is EXCELLENT at finding affordable alternatives for guest.  They can pretty much design a travel package especially for them without a problem.  I haven't heard any complaints from my would be or wanna be guest.

My DWT person is very nice, even if I come across too honest (ie rude or brutal).  She responds so quickly.  I have even contacted another reputable DW agency just to see if I am missing something, and those people havent contacted me - now I get spam mail from them!  Yell My DWT Specialist, Nancy, is wonderful. I actually like the fact that DWT is not a big company and that their consultants work individually.  I only wish that Nancy was the travel agent herself, the wedding coordinator, and wedding planner! But with the world so big, how could she be?

As for as charge, I have heard of a bride getting a refund because the quote went down. I found out that as the date gets closer, specials come out and you can get cheaper rates (season rates), so you might have to consider that when you decide to book.  (so DWT be prepared because I will check this out once it gets closer...)

So bareftbeachbride, honestly, if I didn't work and wanted to be a bridezilla, I would have done everything myself.  DWT has prevented  some stress... Now if I can get Nancy to print and cut out my boarding pass invitations, handle a photographer, search Japan for my TTD photographer, design the special mini cakes I want, and order my OOT bags I would be in heaven.  But those little details are pretty fun and its the best part of being a bride.  Enjoy them!

Good afternoon all that are reading.

After reading every single posting, I have come to this understanding. Tammy must of lost a bride to DestionationWeddings.com or is scared of competition and needs to express her feelings.

My feeling in all of this is based on the industry. Just because someone has done a few weddings does not mean there a Destination Wedding Specialist. Since Tammy is a Bride also and has been on this site for awhile she has seen her competition and wanted to slander it.  Some just can't let it go.Surprised

Being in this industry for 15 years anyone who works in it knows, its a cut throat business there are brides/grooms, family's honeymooners etc.. are all looking for service and best price. Service to anyone plays a major role.  Price only plays a role when someone is looking for a quick getaway. When brides/grooms plan a major events like a Destination Wedding they are looking for Service Guidance and Knowledge. Destination Wedding Specialist is what it means Destinations. Picking out flowers, legal paperwork and everything that goes along with.... is not part of the destination. but Bride's can asks us ( we wear many hats)Cool We all know a bride is not going to book everything before  she is comfortable with a hotel/resort it goes hand and hand at the same time. Book the accommodations while giving deposit for wedding to securing the date.

I know myself I will not be able to give the service 24 hours a day 7 days a week likes Tammy does. I do take into concede ration everyone works and everyone does not work normal hours or my hours. Every bride is unique and needs to be treated in a unique way. If Tammy can do this in her sleep god bless herInnocent. Staying open 24/7 you must be hurting for money and that's the only issue that would keep you open like that.

It sounds like Tammy is a 1 man operation that is scared of a  company that have  specialist in every area, Has Tammy been to every destination including hotels?  Has Tammy took every cruise ship/itinerary known to man? Stepped foot on ever cruise ship. I really do not think so, no travel consultant has nor Destination Wedding Specialist. They specialize in 1 area or 3 tops but know about the rest.

Since this forum has turned into a Slander Forum nothing good is going to come out of this. I am surprised Tammy is acting the way that she has this is not professional at all,  she is not representing her company very well by doing this. Since it was her comment in the beginning about DestionationWeddings.com brides what does this tell you about her? She does not know about DestionantionWeddings.com so why should she have the right to judge them and what they do?  Get her friends family and brides to post good things about her. To every bride that is out there reading this, it does not matter who you work with as long as you get the service your expecting and if that means paying a $50.00 refundable deposit apposed to 24/7 service. Its commen scene Bride's. So as I put my 2 cents into this, I hope everyone gets the service and respect they deserve with working with any Destination Wedding Specialist.

Congratulations to all Brides and Brides to be.

Whoa Whoa Whoa...everyone slow down here. Let's look at the title of this thread... "DestinationWeddings.com" This, in my opinion, means that whatever input ANYONE has on this travel agency or any other travel agency, would be beneficial information to this bride who is inquiring. Before I go on, I have to address this issue that I just read from "lovefortrvl." You stated "Staying open 24/7 you must be hurting for money and that's the only issue that would keep you open like that." Are you a bride or have ever been a bride? Having 24/7 advice is the best thing that any bride could ever receive. It's not a question that they are hurting for money, but they are doing the things that the "other" Travel Agencies won't do. They get their number forwarded to their homes so that they can be available whenever a bride needs them. Like for instance, for those us don't work Banker Hours I feel comfortable knowing that when I am at work from 5:30 pm to 8 am, I can call and be able to make my arrangements with someone, whenever I feel Froggy. I never receive an attitude or get turned away.

I just got off the phone with Tammy for two hours just shooting the breeze and sharing stories. Tammy is THE BEST TRAVEL AGENT and is also a friend. She cares and truly wants to see you happy on your special day...at any cost. Tammy does not need to defend herself from the attacks of the specialist from DWT, because if you read carefully...Tammy's first response was generally addressing DWT to the bride inquiring, not personally attacking another individual. Not once did Tammy throw in the fact that she should pursue Elite Travel, NO! The brides who stand up for her, will do that for her...and we aren't getting paid to. This is real life and this is supposed to be the best day of our lives. All this other garbage is unnecessary and needs to quit. We need to handle the issue at hand, and that is DESTINATIONWEDDINGS.COM!

Personally, I can really preach on this subject because just like many brides I too was fooled by DWT. I admit they were the ones who gave me the idea of ROR...kudos to them. I had to pay a $50 deposit, which I didn't think was a big deal but did not understand why I needed to pay it in order to get information from a TA. So I was able to get no info from a person until I paid $50. It kinda reminds me of a pay phone, you can't use it unless you pay your 50 cents...but then you have a nice free phone that is right next to it and does a better job, which one would you choose??? Anyways, so they hooked me up with Marsha, who was a nice lady but was not attentive. She would say she would call me and wouldn't, didn't respond to my emails, and had banker hours...lol, and this is AFTER I paid her $50. I found Tammy on brides.com because I was looking for input about DWT. Tammy was giving all these brides free advice that was so informational and helpful, and it was FREE (which is always good.) I called Elite and spoke with Ruth and she began quoting me prices (surprised someone else besides Tammy works at Elite lovefortrvl???) When I left messages for Marsha at DWT that I was getting prices from another TA, now all of a sudden she wants to call me back and price match. Are you serious? Tammy offers her brides $5 for every room/night that a guest books for your wedding and offers you to put that as discounts on your balance or offer the discount to guests. Once I told DWT, of course she had something similar. When I saw where this was going, I quickly backed out of DWT and wanted my refund...it took weeks. I told Tammy about this, and she refunded me the money they scammed me...

I have never been more overly satisfied with a level of service. I have been on both sides of the fence, and I am telling you Elite is where to go. To the other TA's who choose to throw negative comments and make assumptions, do me a favor...DON'T. Because you look like a fool not knowing what you are saying. Have you ever heard of a little channel we call NBC??? Look it up in a few, our beloved Tammy is featured there. She gotta be doing something right huh?

Go Tammy, you know I appreciate everything. You are one of the few people I know who personally knows my voice when I am on the phone and remembers me. That's how you develop a relationship with your brides, get to know them. You other specialists can learn from her...GUARANTEED.

She doesn't need to toot her own horn, I'm tootin it for her... TOOT TOOT Cool

Alexandra my experience with DWT mirrors yours. I see things have not changed much since Jan. After several weeks of back and forth emails with little to no progress on the wedding plans I found a breath of fresh air when I read the postings about Tammy and the service she provides. I emailed Tammy that afternoon and by the evening I had more information about the hotel and wedding packages than what DWT was able to provide in weeks of communications. My DWT agent was very nice but she just truly did not know anything outside of what was printed on the hotels web site when it came to the wedding planning.  She also tried to pressure me into booking my honeymoon package stating the resort was sold out and she has the last room on hold for me. I placed a call to the hotel to and found out they were no where close to being sold out. I’m sure DWT has some great travel agents but for my destination wedding I need a travel agent, wedding coordinator & someone who available anytime I have a question or concerns about my big day. I was able to get my $50.00 refunded, my save the date site taken down and part of my room deposit refunded (I was not told of cancellation fee for my room deposit). This only occurred after filing a better business complaint since DWT was slow to move on my request for cancellation.

Thanks

Thanks Troy.. we do what do and are successful because we are passionate about it.  We are not greedy.. it is not the money.  I just was a finalist for Ultimate CEO in Tampa.. Fast 50 again 3 years in a row.. of top companies in Tampa Bay.. now another award of Woman Business of the Year and Best of the Best with American Express Vacations.  !  We know what we are doing.. the other reason.. is that Destination Weddings sublets their work out.. I just found this out about a month ago.  Sooo.. when you call Elite Travel.. you call Elite Travel and reps of Elite Travel.. when you call DW.. yu may be transfered to another agency in Utah or Chicago or Florida.. they sublet the work.  How can you keep a tight ship doing this?  All the clients that switched over to us.. I asked the name of the agency.. it was DW but the signatures are all independent agencies and they were all different.. very strange.  So I did some more investigating . and found out to be true from quite a few vendors.  This is their choice in how to run their biz.. I cannot do that and sleep well at night.

You know we are here for you and if you need anything let me know.. thanks for the post!  Cool

Cool Have a great day! and Congrats to you

A free wedding...is it for real? ask Tammy

That's not really all that strange at all,, for agencies to have outside agents.. very common, it's no different really than having your own clients in different states than you are.. anyone can work with anyone else in a different location and use the same vendors..
