Hey ladies, that is so awesome that you are getting responses back!! I am getting mine out in the mail tomorrow so yay for me!! It was SUCH an ordeal trying to print my envelops. We used a laser printer in my office and they kept getting jammed. But it didn't ruin them and the printing was on the envelops so we just pulled them out carefully. Well we got about half done and came home for the night. I picked one up and all of the ink completely smudged all over the thing!! I was freaking out! Every one that got jammed didn't dry!! FH looked up on the internet that if it doesn't go through the last stage of printing (were we pulled them out of the printer) then the ink will never dry unless it gets hot. SO we tried to use my hair dryer on them!! It actually worked!!! I was so excited but still I have to redo 19 outer and inner ones that got smudged too bad to save, but luckily I had extras! AHH! It was such a headache but I can't wait to get rid of them tomorrow!

Oh and I am a little disappointed because all of my RSVPs will be going to my FMIL because we may not be living here in a month...So i don't even get to see them come in! Booo.... :) At least she was nice enough to take that on for me!

Hey Guys!

I totally just got into this message board thing. I've been too busy before this to even think of looking at them. I am getting married July 13th and I am getting really excited!

AAAAAH! I can't believe how time is flying. I still have some significant lbs to drop (say 20)....how the hell am I going to do that if I only lost 30 since August? And FH wanting pizza is not helping, lol! Anyways.....I went to get some coffee this morning and the clerk was saying....wow it's almost half-way through the year, and I was like.....OMG! I definitely am not utilizing my time properly....is this how it is when you get older, everyday melts into the next one, every work week melts into the next? It's sad! I go to work (school's out so I don't have to go there for now) but then I go to the gym and then come home only to shower and cook dinner and then go to bed to live the same day over again! Can we say grounhog's day?!

Oh well....onto wedding stuff, lol! Michelle and others who have received response cards with no names, first see where it is postmarked, if it is postmarked in a city where most of your replies are coming, you can narrow it down by just simply waiting. When other response cards come in, it eliminates the fact that they are not the "missing name" card.

Noviesita- thanks for the picture compliments....:)

My shower is coming up and I have to say I have mixed emotions. I am excited for the shower which is June 8th! Yet, I am pissed, honestly because I keep checking my registry and I am receiving some cheap gifts. I DID register for cheap gifts, but I did also register for maybe 15-25 gifts over $100 (hey, people gave $200 checks and gift cards at the engagement party which helped gauge how much people would spend on my wedding gift) but I keep looking and they are buying stuff under $50. I NEVER spend less than $50 on a birthday present, never the less a wedding present. We are spending $117 a guest (unfortunately) and they wanna get me $30 presents. I only registered for the cheap stuff for my college aged friends and thought maybe the older people would buy two cheap gifts or make a basket of the smaller stuff like spatulas and baking materials, etc. And they are buying the stuff I am likely to return. I would much rather have my pots and pans and my knives than a sandwich maker or fondue set, lol! Oh well if this is my most major concern right now then I guess I am okay, lol!

Things left to do:

confirm honeymoon stuff (we are going to Greece for two weeks about a week and a half after our wedding!)

plan bridesmaids' luncheon

confirm headcount with caterer, florist, and baker

confirm wedding night hotel....RAAAAR, lol!

force FH to buy groomsmen gifts

discuss and finalize rehearsal dinner stuff

stop being fat, lol!

Pegah,

Remember that these aren't the wedding gifts, they are the shower gifts. They will probably be less expensive than what you get for the wedding. Further, should you really expect people to give you $200 for engagement + $100 for shower + $$$ for the wedding?   If you are spending $117/guest at the wedding you hardly have room to complain about not getting $500+ back! People aren't actually obligated to give you anything, if every time anyone got married everyone they knew gave away that much money, there would be far fewer people attending any wedding related events because nobody could afford to go. FH and I didn't get anything for an engagement party and our shower gifts were about $50 on average.

Why did you even register for the cheaper stuff if you don't want it and don't think it's a good enough gift?

It is a good sign if that is the worst you have to worry about, but don't forget to appreciate that people are getting you gifts at all.

Dewdroppin-

I guess I should have mentioned these people drive BMW's and are doctors, etc. They spend close to $300 on their dresses to come to the wedding and can't shell out a little more for the gift? You're right in saying they don't have to get me anything, but we all know that is not ever true, lol! Call it what you may, me being greedy or what, I don't think the cheap stuff is NOT good enough, I just think that if you have the money, why are you acting like you don't when you buy me a $20 set of drinking glasses leaving people who aren't married to doctors to be forced to buy the more expensive things. And unfortunately we have to spend that much per guest because there aren't many places to get married here and the one we fell in love with charges ridiculous prices for catering and we have close to 300 guests that is my parents doing, really only 100 guests are our family and friends, the rest are my parents friends and colleagues.

Baby3384-Welcome to the forum!  Do share your wedding details with us when you get a chance.

RA2M-I'm happy that you got the dress you really wanted.  I  think the dress looks beautiful on you.  Black/wht was one of my considerations for wedding colors.  The only reason I didn't do it is b/c one of my friends had done it already but, I have seen so many beautiful ideas for those wedding colors especially cakes.

For those of you who haven't sent your invites yet, # your RSVP cards.  I did this and it's really working out for me.  I have already gotten back 2 rsvp's where members of my family only wrote "Mr. & Mrs. so-so"  Well, HELLO! there are other couples with the same last name in the family so, how was I to guess whose response it was.LOL!!!  Anyway, in both cases I just looked at my list to see who had that # on their RSVP card and viola!.

We are getting close!

Thank You Noviesita!

I put the post in wedding dresses or something like that.

That is an excellent idea of numbering the RSVPs so you know who sends them back. There were actually instructions on my custom-made invitations to do that.

I CAN'T BELIEVE IT!!! EXACTLY TWO MORE MONTHS!! MAN DOES TIME FLY!

Oh crap oh crap oh crap! It's officially two months until I get married!! Eek, so much to do!

Not to mention I about had a heart attack yesterday. I get a call from my caterer, asking "are you on you're way?" I was like uh, to where? Turns out he got the wrong week for our appointment and I was fine, but still, I was terrified for about 30 seconds I had missed some big thing!

Pegah - I hear you on the weight! I was doing sooo well for a while, but not so much the past 3 weeks. Poo. Need to get my butt in gear!

Yay! I'm July 12th! My invites went out this week (for the dramatic scenes leading up to this and the $2000 invitation see my rant under Invitations thread-lol). I love the idea of numbering the RSVPs. I was just going to throw them in a shoebox and hope for the best ;) I'm meeting with the florist on Saturday. I'm thinking of going with an ivy/greenery theme for the decorations..because their cheap...and I think they'll look nice. I'm still trying to pick out my ceremony music. Oh, and I'm going to make our unity candle - that should be fun and interesting. Anyway, I'm glad I found this thread - now we can all count down together!!Smile

I really wish that I'd numbered my RSVP cards somehow. lol. :)

So girls, I'm up to 43 guests! Yay! Thats WAY less than we invited, but the cards are slowly trickling back. :)

And we're going wedding band shopping tomorrow...and yeah. I'm getting things done slowly. :)

Welcome to the thread Mrsandrew!

Well, we've got about 35 people coming so far-but I haven't checked the mail yet today. The RSVPs aren't coming in droves or anything, they are just kind of trickling in. I did figure out that it was my aunt who sent back the nameless RSVP-so that's good lol.

How is everything going for everyone? Time is just going too quickly. I need to see the venue again so that I can decide what to do for decorations. It's pretty much a blank canvas right now. It's nice, but it kinda sucks having to start from scratch.

You aren't too late on your rings Ryanne. Ours are just now getting ordered too. Mine still has to be sized since I have tiny hands.

Are you ladies having your rings engraved? I don't think that FH and I are going to do that-but then again, I might change my mind. I've discovered that I am really good at that. Smile

Welcome, Mrsandrew! Great to have you counting down with us :).

Everything here is going well. The programs are getting pretty well set, I have the labels set up to print out (on clear mailing labels) the names and food choices for the place cards.

All the rehearsal dinner gifts are now bought, and we just ordered the red, white and blue Jelly Belly mix for the favor bags. It was the last box they had at Amazon.com, so that might be why it was about $20 off! Yay.

FH and I did decide to go with the engraving for our wedding rings. We got our initials and wedding date, not that it's at all easy to read. But it's neat to know that it's there.

When is my wedding

Welcome to the thread Mrsandrew!

So we didn't get our bands today. We ended up fighting instead. lol. I think FH is getting nervous and had all these "cold feet" thoughts bugging him and needed to get them out of his system. haha. For a minute I seriously started thinking about everything I was going to have to do to call the wedding off! It was pretty bad, until FH explained what was really going on--that he needed to get some stuff out of his system. So we're okay now. I think we've both got the jitters and they're making us fight! So yeah. I guess we'll probably go get the bands tomorrow or something. It'll only take a week to get mine sized, but he has to have his ordered so we have to get on that pretty soon. lol.

As far as engraving, I think mines too thin to be engraved, and his is tungsten so we aren't getting his engraved either. I had wanted to, but I don't think that it'll work.

I have the best FH ever!!!!!!!!!!!!

So for my birthday, he treated me to a day at the spa today - I got a facial, full body massage and a pedicure!

And on top of that, he got me a Sony Cyber Shot HD camera! We're talking nice. I've been talking about wanting one, but I had no idea he was going to get me one!

And as if that wasn't enough, he's agreed to take me to the Shedd Aquarium tomorrow and then a nice dinner in Chicago!!!!

I love love love love my FH!
