Advise on Wedding Day Makeup
Posted: Dec 16, 2007 9:29 PM

I am fairly new to this site and have not started many of my own post. However, I have noticed that you ladies give excellent advise, so I thought I'd post this and see what you thought.

Althought I do wear makeup whenever I leave the house (I'd scare people if I didn't LOL), I've never really worried about the colors and if they were applied correctly.  I usually just use it to give me some color and to cover blemishes.  With my wedding coming up, I really want my makeup to look right, but have no real idea on how to achieve the look I want.  My Mom has suggested hiring someone to do my makeup, while my sister suggest I go to a department store and let the women at the makeup counter do it.  I'm afraid, either way, I will come out looking more like I'm ready for Halloween than for my wedding. I'm really starting to stress over this, and I have no clue what to do.  Any suggestions?

Pick somewhere close to your wedding site and go have a trial run.  Most places will do the trial run for free or fairly cheap.  That way if you hate it you're not obligated.

HI!!

Yesterday my MOH's Mother had a makeup party for me...Yes, it was like a "tupperware" party...but I let everyone know this and my MOH's mother's friend (the lady who is abover her...they sell Mary K) came and did the whole sales pitch..buy this product...how do you like this...

Think about finding a rep in your area and maybe doing something like this....or going to a makeup party.  I can't do make up for the life of me!!...We sat down found my colors for an evening wedding...it was sooo much fun!! but the main thing was they taught me how to apply make-up...and I used the excuse of "my face breaks out, don't want to buy this moisturizer..this scrub, that cleanser....whatever!! It was just nice not having someone sitting down and working one on one with me and my MOH...it would have been the whole bridal party...but we won't get into WHY THEY DIDN'T SHOW UP!!...sorry, just a little ticked that I've had this planned for months and GOING TO THE MALL WAS MORE IMPORTANT THAN SHOWING UP EARLY!!

See, now I would have had no other choice than to turn into a MAJOR Bridezillia over that one!!  I wasn't aware that Mary K actually did things like that!  WOW, any ideas on where to find a rep?

Try Bare Essentials, its very natural looking and great for your skin.

If for whatever reason that doesn't work for you, I went to a department store for a free makeup consultation a few weeks before the wedding.  The woman showed me what colors complimented me, what would help with the photos and glare on my skin, etc.  Then I could buy whatever makeup I wanted at the end, and she gave me a book with tips on how to apply makeup (and she demonstrated to me as well).  I practiced once more on my own and the wedding day went smoothly!

So, u applied your own makeup for your wedding and bridal pics?  That just sounds scarry to me, but maybe if the woman can take time to explain everything to me, it might work. Did a MH or BM help you with the makeup?

I'm going to go to the Dillards near the my wedding site and have a consultation with a Clinque counter.  I'd love to do MAC but they don't have one.  Anyway, I'll do the consult, if I like the make up then I'll go in the morning before the wedding (we're getting married at 1 pm and have them do it.  Stress free, hopefully.  I feel you though; the thought of doing my own make up scares the heck out of me!!
