Need info on some North Jersey inexpensive venues
Posted: Sep 20, 2007 7:08 PM

There was another message board regarding halls in NJ. It was great but way over my budget. I am looking for probably April-June reception (other than Jan-Mar seems lowest. (have not picked a date yet as we are on a budget)

I found 3 so far I am interested in your thoughts as well as any additional you may know of. Price range I am looking is $70pp or under including most tax & grat

1. The Westwood
2. The Forge Inn
3. Patangis Renaissance

All are in North NJ - I am from Staten Island so in that general area. My problem is I am now living in Fl so my mom is visiting these places

Thanks

I live five minutes from Snuffy's Pantagis and I have to say, it is horrible! There are fake "ruins" in the lobby and they've covered everything in fake ivy. The rooms are very small and dark and at any given moment there could be three or four events overlapping. They do, on the other hand, have a killer brunch, but that means that if you have a Sunday wedding there's a good chance your guests will run into people in their jammies around the buffet. Stay away from this place unless you want all-you-can-eat clams casino and mimosas.

I never went to those places, so I can't offer any advice.  I just wanted to send you some good ((vibes)) Smile

FI and I live in North Jersey.  I went to a bunch of halls around this area and they are ridiculously expensive!  The least expensive place I found was $145pp and the quality wasn't the best!  This is the reason we decided to get married upstate NY where FI is from.  I would think that Staten Island or South Jersey might have better prices with comparable quality.

Good Luck!!!

Leesa, I'm having my wedding at The Westwood in Februaury.  This is the first time I'm using this vendor, so I don't know much about their services.  My friend has been there for an event  and she thought that it was beautiful and the food was great.  The consultant that I met with was really nice and the food was delicious.  The place itself is beautiful...not Venetian beautiful, but beautiful, where if you are on a budget and all you want if for everyone to have a good time its perfect.  They are remodeling a couple of the rooms there.  We are having our reception at the downstairs room, which is already remodeled.

Is there anything else that you would like to know?

BTW  I heard that having your reception at a hotel is cheaper.  There's also a place on Route 22, just past Union that's a venue and they are reasonably priced (so I heard).  I went to a wedding there and it was okay looking.  The Westwood is better looking.  Laughing
