Now that I'm getting closer to my wedding, I would like to hear what you did instead of your typical guest sign-in book.  We are anticipating at least 200 guests and would like something unique and memorable.

Please post what you did or plan to do as a guest sign in book.

Hi BrideChica--I havent done it yet, but what I want to do is the following:

on photobucket I think it is, you can create an album and they mail it to you. So I'm going to put like half of the amount of pictures you would normally put on a page to leave room for people to sign and leave a small message. I think its a pretty keepsake. Hope it helped :-)

www.shutterfly.com is much much better.  they have different size albums (all are bound) and you can choose backgrounds and different layouts.  I haven't ordered mine yet but I will soon so I'll let you know how it looks!

I have two ideas for you:

1) Have a picture frame mat for everyone to sign, then you can put a wedding picture in it and hang it on the wall.

2) I saw this last night on Whose Wedding is it Anyway? and I love the idea.  Get a glass jar or a box and a bunch of little pieces of paper in your weddin colors.  They should be note card size, each person can then write a message to you and your husband and then they put it in the container and you can read them whenever you want.  I really like this idea and I will probably be using it myself.

Great ideas, ladies!  I like the idea of creating an album online and allowing guests to sign.  I recently made an alnum on snapfish.com, but I'll check out shutterfly.com designs bc I think snapfish is a bit plain.

biggred1, I like the glass jar idea.  I might have to also steal that idea.  This could be an addition to the guest book.

Keep the ideas coming ladies!

Try Picaboo.com too, I made a photobook and it turned out great and I did order it and the quality was better than I expected

I got my guestbook at guestbookstore.com. I can't tell you how excited I am to have my guests fill it out. I think it will allow everyone get creative and give my fiance and I something to read over and over again. They also have several different covers to choose from that are very cute. I've also been impressed with the customer service. You'll have to go to the website and check it out.

Our wedding is in less than 2 weeks!

I'm making mine on Photoworks.com.  I didn't realize how many other people had that same idea! lol  I had never heard of doing it before, but my fh ordered one of family pics just for us and when I saw it I loved it.  And a few weeks ago, I was still struggling to find a guest book that I really liked, so I thought hey, why not make my own!  That will be different and give guests something to look at while they are sighning, picks of us!  I put mostly pics of FH and I together in it, and a few of us by our selves, and then some with my daughter too.  I think it will be great!  Out theme is shells and sand, and they happened to have that as one of the themes of the books, so I used that one.  I can't wait to finish it.  We still have just over a year, so I'm going to put new pics in it as we take them and order the book probably next year a couple months before the wedding.  Hopefully we'll have some engagement pics to add.  Great ideas ladies!!

We are using a ceramic plate that has our names, the wedding date, and a cute picture of us. Guests sign it and somehow baking it in the oven seals the signatures. We plan to keep it on the coffee table or get an easle to display it at our place.

Thanks for your ideas!  This upcoming weekend, I'm going to check out your recommended sites to see what they have to offer.

My one concern is that we are having about 200 guests.  Do you have 3-4 sign in books or what?  What did you do when you had a large amount of guests?

I'm not having a large amount of guests but if you're planning on doing a guestbook like the one at shutterfly.com, you can add additional blank pages.  the cheapest one, $13, you start out with 20 pages and you can organize them however you want.  I think getting multiple books would be too costly depending on what you want to do.

My concern is not about the amount of pages, it's whether or not everyone will have the chance to sign in.  With so many people moving on to the reception, I don't want a huge line of guests waiting to sign in.

Ladies, I really don't know what I would do without your ideas!  Laughing  I recently received a photobook of our summer adventures and I didn't put two and two together to get this idea.  Thanks a whole bunch!

I changed my mind alot about what I wanted for a guestbook.

1. I love the wish bowl idea... And I planned to scan the notecards in after the wedding and use them in a photobook from one of the sites like shutterfly or picaboo.

Since you are having 200 guests... Are you having a sit down dinner? Or assigned seating? Maybe, you could have the notecards on each table with a couple of pens. And a collection bowl in a central location? Just a thought...

2. Since I love to cook, and we are having a destination wedding in Napa Valley, I wanted to find a Napa Valley cookbook and have all the guests sign pages in that.

3. I found a book called Napa Stories. Its a beautiful coffee table book with all sorts of little stories about the wineries in Napa Valley. I found it on Amazon for $12 when its normally about $30-$40 and thought it would be great for guests to sign it.

I love all the ideas and kind of wish I could do them all! Hope one works for you!

Keep in mind...even though you will be having 200 guests...they will not all be signing the book. For example...if there is a family of four...one person will sign for all of them...if there is a couple..one of them will sign for both of them...

We are using idoengravables. I did the mat thing for my engagment party and we wanted something different for the wedding. For my college graduation party we did the polaroid thing....we had each family take a polaroid picture and gave them a card to write a message and I scrapbooked them....and to this day...i still look at it (the party was 5 years ago)
