Punctuation is your friend! So are paragraphs! Use them when you can. For more details on posting conventions check out newsjunkie’s “Board Bill Of Rights”
Board Bill Of Rights
When you type in all caps you are yelling.
If you type in italics you are putting emphasis on that word or phrase.
Underlining is the same
If you do all three you are yelling at the top of your lungs
How to Post a Ticker in your signature
Go to a ticker site and make yours. (ticker central and sugglepie seem to be the most popular)
After you have done all the steps copy the code they provide you.
Go to Edit you profile
Scroll down to your signature
Click on the tree icon
Past the code in where it says HTML
Click Insert
Your ticker should appear.
How to Post an Image to a thread.
Step 1) If taking it from a website right click on the image
In the fly out menu choose “View Image”
You should see your image appear on an otherwise totally blank page
Copy the web address that appears.
Move on to step 3
Step 2) Uploading an Image to Photobucket
go to photobucket.com
Sign up for an account
To Upload:
Once you have the pictures on your computer.
Log into photobucket.
scroll down a little
Type in a name in create new sub album. (this is not required but I would recomend it)
Once you have a sub album, click on it so it says across the page
Current Album: Samala : Brides stuff -0 pictures
Now in the upload photo area directly below that you can click "choose file" and then go to the part of your computer you saved those files on.
Click on the file so it is highlighed.
Click choose
You now have the choice of clicking "add more images" or just clicking upload.
Choosing to add more will allow you to upload multiple images at once. This does take longer however.
Now it will take a while for the files to upload. Photobucket formats them so they are a smaller size. You don't need to know what that is, just be aware it will be loading for a loooong time.
Once you have the photos uploaded. This is how you can fix them. Look at the images now showing in your album. Click on edit and do whatever. Rotate or reduce size would probably be all you need to do.
It should show you a preview of how the changes will look.
Step 3) How to post them on here.
Go in to your photobucket account
Highlight and copy the URL code from under the picture
(don't worry about the other stuff. Look for the one that says URL next to it)
Go into the forums like you are normally posting
Click on the tree icon across the top of the comment space
Paste the code into the box that pops up in he URL space.
Don't worry about the rest of it.
Click insert.
And then post your comment. The image should come up.
If your image comes up too large Click on the image and then the Tree again.
The click on the dimensions
You can alter the size there. It may take some playing to get the ratios right.
Alternatively, you can click on the image, and then use the handles (little black boxes) to shrink the image.
To copy either highlight the text and hit the control button and the c button at the same time (or command if on a mac) OR go up to edit in your toolbar and click on copy.
To paste put your cursor in the box and press Control and v (or command v)
Or go up to edit and click on paste.
If you want to make a link in your text you need to do it in html
< a xhref=“http://whateveryourwebsiteis”> Whatever You want the copy to say
</a>
(only take that enter out. I have it there so you can see the code otherwise it tries to fulfill the command. So it should all be in one line. Don't worry if it wraps.
*** You now need to do this in the HTML editor (the icon that says HTML on the top. It no longer works in the body of the text. It will be hard to read in the HTML editor but it will format correctly when you update it. gnore all the other stuff in between < > that shows up in the code.
For other code check out webmonkey.com
You do need the.com or .org or whatever in the html page. It HAS to be formatted the way It is shown.
I often have to do that and preview, and then go back to edit before the html code will go into effect.
You don’t have to do this. You can just copy and paste a whole web address in the comment box. Brides.com will make it a link. But you will get the /nobr stuff at the beginning and end of your comment.
*** This may not be true anymore. It looks like Brides.com has done some updating since I compiled this. If anyone sees anything I missed or is no longer valid let me know and I'll update this.
ALSO,
To post a picture or a ticker you can right click on the image so you get the flyout menue with copy/ view/ down load in it. If you choose copy you can then go into your signature or into a post and past the image/ticker in and it should show up.
Okay, that’s all I have right now. Did I miss anything?
