Ideas for something different!

Hello music lovers! I am trying to think of something different to walk down the aisle to. I'm not into the traditional music or the Canon D music.

I'm having the ceremony in the garden of a hotel, so I'm pretty sure that I can play just about anything. I was thinking of the instrumental or the actual song of "All I ask of you" from Phantom of the Opera. I'm a huge fan of that play but I'm also looking for other songs. I want something meaningful, I always tell my FH that I'm going to make him cry when I walk down the aisle....lol. He also expressed that he if he came up with something that meant a great deal to him that he would love for me to use to walk down to as well. But I haven't gotten any suggestions yet. So if any of you can suggest anything, that would be great.

Oh yea I forgot, I was also thinking about having a harpist or something play an instrumental to Beyonce's song "Dangerously in Love" which is a beautiful song but I prefer the version that's on the Destiny's Child CD.

Hi... we are also using something unique for me walking down the aisle. It sounds like you already have a couple of songs /great ideas that are meaningful to you!:) But just in case, here is what Im using....

(I posted this on another topic but you might not have read it)

The Hawaiian Wedding Song by Elvis Presly

This is the moment Ive waited for

I can hear my heart sing, soon bells will be ringing

This is the moment of Sweet Aloha

Promise me that you will leave me never

I will love you always and forever

Now that we are one, clouds wont hide the sun

Blue skies of Hawaiian style on this our Wedding Day

I do Love You with all My heart

THe lyrics are perfect, the song is gorgeous, simple, and my dad is a HUGE Elvis fan so it will be very fitting when he walks me down the aisle.

The ones that you chose sounds great too. There is also a really pretty instrumental song from Miss Saigon that might work well.. I cant remember the name of it, but its the only instrumental song from the show I think.

I am walking down the aisle to either "I Do" by 98 Degrees  or  the first verse of "Please Forgive Me" by Bryan Adams.

Words to 98 degrees song:

"I Do, I Do babe

I Do, I Do

All I am, all I'll be

Everything in this world

All that I'll ever need

Is in your eyes

Shining at me

When you smile I can feel

All my passion unfolding.

Your hand brushes mine

And a thousand sensations

Seduce me 'cause I

I do cherish you

For the rest of my life

You don't have to think twice

I will love you still

From the depths of my soul

It's beyond my control

I've waited so long to say this to you

If you're asking do I love you this much

Well I do."

It goes on, but that's the part I'd be using.

The Bryan Adams song is actually a song about breaking up (at least that's the way I interpret it). But the first verse is so pretty and in my eyes relates to a wedding.

"It still feels like our first night together
feels like the first kiss and it's gettin' better baby
No one can better this
still holdin' on, you're still the one
first time our eyes met -  the same feeling I get
Only feels much stronger - I wanna love you longer
You still turn the fire on…
So if you're feelin' lonely don't
You're the only one I ever want
I only wanna make it good
So if I love ya a little more than I should

Please forgive me - I know not what I do
Please forgive me - I can't stop loving you
Don't deny me - this pain I'm going through
Please forgive me - if I need ya like I do
Please believe me - every word I say is true
Please forgive me - I can't stop loving you"

It definately sounds like you've got some good ideas, but here's what i'm doing anyway!  We are also planning to have a harpist, and we are getting married in a Rose garden.  I to did not want to walk down to the traditional songs...so I decided on the theme song from "The Princess Bride" it's call Once upon a Time...Story Book Love.  That is FH and mines favorite movie so it's kind of sentimental too.  Hope that helps.  Oh and here's the link so you can listen to a clip on Amazon if you want. I want to start it on the part just past the beginning...you can only hear a little of it, but that's it.  Good Luck!

How about "At Last", By Etta James...it's a timeless tune and most people know it.
Or if you are a Musical fan..."Someone Like You" from Jekyl and Hyde is gorgeous! I am having someone sing it at mine:) Hope this helped.

Wow!  Mark Knopfler - that is what I am walking down the aisle to as well.  We have chosen Wild Theme from Local Hero.  Do you have any idea where to get the music?  We are having a stringed trio play and they will need something to go by.

If you go to this site www.bearshare.com it's a great site to look up music and to actually hear the music. It doesn't cost anything either......

Hmm, I've been trying to work out different songs. They have to be able to played on the strings. I found well...a beautiful celtic song from the movie, 'The Boondock Saints'. I decided that it would be a sweet almost sad tune for when I walk down the aisle with my dad not letting go of my arm.

I say just go with what you feel is right to you. I'm itching hard to have one of my favorite video game songs put in for when people are being seated. I'm a dork yes...but we both love video games and it doesn't sound like such. It just sounds like a pretty violin peice. ^^

But All I ask of you...I love that song. ^^ You gave me an idea to play that at the reception at least.

Apparently the wedding is drawing near...hmm...maybe I should think about it. Nah, I want a muffin. Yup, muffins.

July 28, 2007...four years since he asked me out in a one month relationship and I said...hmm, okay sure.

Since my son is walking me down the aisle, we are walking to I'm Already Taken By Steve Warnier. It's a country song about a little boy and girl that grown up together but everytime he asks her out her response is I'm Already taken you spoke up to late I love somebody else so you'll just have to wait. Then they end up getting married and having a little boy who asks his mommy to marry him and She says I love your daddy son so you'll just have to wait.

It is so sweet and so cute, we just had to use it.

I'm walking down to Suddenly by Raul Midon...playing only the first verse:

Suddenly, I see the things I used to see so differently. I feel as if I've found a new reality. Suddenly, the noise outside my window is a symphony. A symphony of endless possibility, right in front of me.

...then fade out the music.

Good Luck to all of you!

I think I've decided to use "Love don't always come easy" by Skynyrd.  Probably an intrumental, if I can find that version.  I love it!  It wouldn't be too bad having the words, but I would prefer without, because it starts out...well, I'll just post the lyrics.  But the music to it is so nice.  The first time I heard it, I knew that it was probably going to be my processional.  Two young lovers meet and take each others hand
They say I do in the name of the lord
Livin as one givin all they can
Then the pressures come and a child is born
Young girl cradles the child in her arms
The mans home late and his days too long
Theyre both unable to spend some time alone
That everybody needs to have
Thats the thing that keeps love strong

(chorus)
Love dont always come easy
And sometimes love it can hurt
Words dont always come easy
Its worth a try were gonna make it work
cause love dont always come easy

Without warning many go a different way
And travel that road lookin for someone
Their lives unravel a little more every day
This aint no time to turn and run
Its a crime to throw it all away

(repeat chorus)

Also, there is a cd called WANTED: Pickin' on Chris Cagle.  It's all instrumental bluegrass versions of Chris Cagle songs.  And Cagle is my honey!  I'm a huge Caglehead!!!  There were a couple of songs on there that would be great too!  And it would so fit me to walk down the aisle to CAGLE!!!
