I am looking into coffee mugs. I think we will have our names and date or something like that put on it, with a tea bag hanging out, with a pretty tag.  I have found mugs on the internet for about .82 cents each.

We are having an ocean theme, and 2 days ago FH and I found tiny candle holders with beach scapes at Christmas Tree Shop 2 for $1.  They hold tea lights, so a couple of bags of white tea lights on sale, and we have a favor for each guest for a total of 80 cents apiece.  We are also doing small donations to the Sea Shepherd Society in the guests' names.  You could consider either or both...

I am making my own favors and I have plenty of time to do this. I am hoping that people will remember these favors and enjoy them and if not at least they are what I want and supposedly that is all that matters on your wedding day. I am buying wooden boxes and base coating them white and decoupaging them. My theme is roses (overdone I know). I will be lining them with wallpaper and inside will have a sports themed lottery scratch off representing my FH and a home made bookmark representing myself along with a card with our names and date. I am buying the boxes on sale and have already started. I recently purchased several boxes at michael's on clearance for $.25 each. I realize that not all of the boxes will be that cheap but it will be alot easier to spread the cost out this way. I am getting the place card holders from orientaltrading providing the quality is good. I like the idea of bells ringing instead of glasses chinking and I found cheap ones. They are about $4 for a dozen. I also found on the same web site bubbles at $6 for 24 in all different kinds. I have not ordered these items so I cannot attest to their quality unfortunately. Good luck to everyone and I hope that you find something that suits you!

My fiance and his family were victims of Hurricane Katrina so we're going to do donations in the guests names

My FH is Japanesse decent (1/4) so we are folding origami baskets in our colors of aqua and brown and putting the opposite color m&m's in them.  we thought this would get the Japanesse decent in the decorations also.  He is also folding some large cranes for the buffet table and the bride's table.  He is even teaching me how to fold all of these.

How about Hershey bars and making your own wrappers on your computer?  I used to do that for my daughter's basketball teams every year and use their actual team photos on it.  Very easy & much less expensive to do them yourself!

Favor Warehouse stuck me!  They took my $$ and promised delivery within a week of the order.  Four weeks later I called, could not get an answer, finally pretended to try to place an order, got a real, live person.  I told her my concern only to find out the coasters we ordered for the shower were on backorder until 10 days AFTER the shower!  They did refund my $$, but what if I took them at their word & never called?  We'd have no favors for 50 shower guests!

I bought 50 silver heart favor tins on ebay for a total of $32.90

so that makes that about 67¢ a pc and we will fill with m&m's and not sure the price of m&m's but they will still cost under $3.00 a pc to make.
