Hello 07/07/07 Brides: Posted: Apr 18, 2006 10:50 AM; What a tuesday! Its not only my birthday, but my first post also! Happy Birthday to all born April 18th!
Just wondering who will also be getting married on this day if July 7th of 2007. And also for anyone getting married in the begining of July, and live in the midwest area (or WI), we are having an outside wedding (location unknown as of now) any ideas of diff ways�to keep the guest cool?�Things that worked, or things to stay away from? Thanks!

Was going to be late April but I changed it ( FH's grandmothers b-day is 07/07 and he wanted some way to incorparte her into our wedding so i cahnged it to her b-day for him).
Our wedding is going to be outdoors in a local Cincinnati Park and we are having a HUGE BBQ as a reception.
We are setting up a water/lemonade/iced tea bar for our guests. And passing out hand held fans to some of our older ones.

Then later found out that date was one of my uncles b-day also.
Our reception is going to be indoors, because we are doing lunch, i said to my FH i could stand being outside at 11am in July in my dress for a while, but not for both the wedding and the reception.
So the lemonade/ice tea bar is that�going to be set up outside beofre your wedding starts? Fans sound like a great idea.

Our ceremony will be in the 500 year old church my parents were married in. The walls are so thick, heat is never the problem.

Don't you wish the time would go by faster? I was on my wedding website today and it is exactly 444 days. To keep the guest cool we are going to get program fans for the ceremony and it is also at 6:30 at night so hopefully it won't be too hot. So how far are you girls in the planning stages?

we are not far in our planning, we have only look at one reception site, the guest list is not finished (but at lest we have a ruft draft) I got the dress bought and paid for. Thats about all we have done so far.� But the reason we have only this much done is because we are both in school right now, i'm taking an Anatomy and�Physiology II classs,� and my FH is taking nursing classes (its his last semester, YEAH!) How far is everyone else?

I have the reception and the ceremony location booked also.�I have been trying to figure out colors for the past 4 months. I am giving myself to the one year mark for them. Becuase I want to have the bm dress picked out be the end of summer. And I want to have down deposits on all the vendors by august. Our date is really popular so the earlier the better.

Our wedding is inside however, the only exception is the end of the reception and the reason we are having our wedding so close to the 4th- fireworks �FFIL is a fireman and is getting the necessary permits so that we can shoot off fireworks that are illegal in MI- otherwise known as everything that leaves the freaking ground! He and the firecrew (who are invited- which is approx 5 people) are going to be the ones setting off the fireworks also.

The fans we are making so they match the programs. I will post the instructions when I figure out what I did with them.
I would have to agree we all seemed to have picked a very popular day for weddings. I guess it's like that because it's the first Saturday after the fourth.
As far as planning we have to finish up the guest list. Everything is pretty much planned out. We book the site on July 1 2006. I have my dress ( aunt is making it), we have picked our colors, food, music. I have the format for our save the date magnets, invites, programs, place cards, fans, and thank you notes done just have to print them out. My mom before she decided she wasn't coming helped me pick out the flowers and my girls all ready know what dresses they want.
Boy I feel like I am so far ahead but I know I have a million and one things to do still.

My FH jokes that he likes 07/07/07 cuz then he wont forget our anniversary. We know that we'll have an early afternoon reception with just appetizers and cake. We're on a small budget so the less we can get away with the better.

Our wedding will be in MN, so close to WI and will be outside. We're going to get a big tent for shade and in case of rain. There is a pool so we'll be telling guests to bring a swimsuit if they want. I hope its not too hot! I orriginally wanted a long sleeve dress, but decided to go sleeveless when we moved it to July.
Have plenty of water for people to drink.
Is there an air conditioned building around that people could escape to if they don't feel well?
My cousin had big fans pointed at the audience during the ceromony. It provides a nice constant breeze and is more effective than a paper fan.
Also, think about the time of day that you want it. Sunset is a beautiful time and is cooler. 3 or 4 o'clock is usually the hottest part of the day.

Oh, be sure to spray the area for bugs. Mosquitoes are sooo nasty, and can make many people miserable.

We booked our church and the reception hall a loooonnnnng time ago- church in July of 2004 (members of), reception hall in June of 2005 (owner is friends of extended family). We also booked the photographer in July of 2004 (same photographer that has done all of the other pictures for my family). I also bought my dress, ordered it, and it is already in.

What we have left is A LOT of things however!

I have to finish asking my bridesmaids � one bm and my moh have no clue yet (bm thinks she is just a reader lol)
decide on a dress for bridesmaids- I am down to five choices (while reminding FMIL that although FSIL is a bm she �FMIL- does not get to dictate what is worn and what is not worn grr
Put together guest list- and then par it down (reminding FMIL it is our choice who comes not hers *sigh*)
Order invitations (have them picked out)
Order favors (have them picked out)
Finalize a menu w/reception hall coordinator
Order the men�s tux�s
Decide on type (real, silk, or dried) flowers and arrangements with florist (another member of church) and aunt who are working together to decorate both church and hall
Finish premarital counseling
Sign contract with DJ
Finalize cake design with �grandma� (not biological- but still is)
Find undergarments for my dress (may need those!!!)

I think I also need to work on issues with FMIL and reminding her that she is not losing her son she is gaining me (that�s what my mom keeps telling me).

I think it is time to start setting up some spa days too! I figure I need them!!!

I am probably missing things on that list.

MI07Bride, go with real flowers!! I have heard from married women�was if they could change something it would be for the flowers that they carried to have been real one's if they had fake flower. true they do not last as long, but then what are you going to do with the fake one's after the wedding? they will become dust collectors no matter what you do with them (unless you put them in a shadow box maybe (but then�it would have to be small flowers))
It does sound like you might need to line up some spa days already. Lucky for me i have not heard so much as a peep from my FMIL, she is just very supportive, on the other hand my poor FH and my mother.� He does not mind my mom, but my mom has her opinions, and wants to share them with everyone, but she has a bad habit of making this wedding into more then it is at this stage of planning (since we are moving and all nothing is set in stone till we know where we are moving too)
Oh had an idea everyone.....what is everyone's goal for how much they want to spend on the wedding? Give your�cap number you and your FH put on how much you will be spending on the wedding day. Along with how many people you would like to invite (that will give the numbers a bit of meaning cause most of the money is to feed and give drinks of some sort to all of those guest)

One of my cousin's had her flowers preserved before the wedding and I may do that- that way I have my flowers the entire time (I preserved my flowers from when I was festival queen and have them in a memory box with the crown, sash and all of that stuff so I want to do the same for the wedding).
As for FMIL- she is very opinionated and doesn't like it when her opinion is not used! she had already planned her baby boy's wedding and is upset because we planned our wedding our way and have completely gone opposite of what she wanted. She also believes she should have the final say on everything, but that is up to FH and myself (my m is paying and says we should have what we want).
Add FMIL onto dealing with dad's care issues, one more year of undergrad (graduate May before wedding wahoo!), planning the wedding, and the fact that I have a stress disorder (complete with panic attacks) I feel like I need the spa day NOW!!! FH, BM and her (soon to be �*shh*) FH and I are going to the casino this weekend to relax before next weeks finals AHHHH
My Goal: under $10,000. right now we are at $6,000 I believe. This�includes: reception hall (with discount),�max. for catering (we have�a range they are working in),�ceremony location and clergy preforming ceremony/pre marital counseling, photographer package (includes engagement pictures,�copyrights, parent albums, huge picture for over fireplace, digital albums, all day photography- I got the old rate though for booking early *wahoo*).
People: 250.
meal: finger foods/ hordurves (sp?), and stations (ie- sandwich station, salad station, veggie (and dip) station,�fruit and chocolate fountain station, dessert station, and a cake station. No alcohol, but will have coffee, punch, lemonaide, and water (well, possibly with exception of toast for head table- but everyone else and minors in the wedding party will have sparkling grape juice or sparkling apple cider)
freebies: cake is a present, flowers: wholesale cost only and only have to pay for those used for corsages, bout's, bouquets, the piano arrangement, and the three single stem roses we are putting as memorials in the windows.
