Shoes
- Order your shoes far in advance so that they’ll arrive in time for your first wedding dress fitting (about four months before your big day). Factor in extra time if you’re dyeing them to match your gown.
- Embellishments should be elegant, not overwhelming. Use sparkly accents sparingly.
- Shop for your shoes during the afternoon, when your feet are most swollen. Most people have one foot that’s larger than the other—be sure to fit to your larger foot.
- If you’re the same height as, or taller than, your groom, you may want to wear elegant ballet slippers.
- Break in your shoes before your big day. Wear them around the house for a week or two (but for no more than 15 minutes a day), and scuff the soles so that you won’t slip.
