Question:
In order to avoid taking too much time out of the reception, my photographer has suggested snapping all of our wedding-party photographs before the ceremony. Is that okay?
Answer:

It's perfectly fine to take your formal pictures before the ceremony, with or without your groom. Don't want him to see you until you walk down the aisle? You can still do most of your pictures beforehand. Ask the photographer to take shots of you, your family, and the bridesmaids early in the day. (Make hair and makeup appointments with this in mind.) Afterward, the photographer can drive to the church and snap the guys (and the groom's family) before the ceremony. This leaves only the photos of you and the groom, and the combined family shots, to be taken between the ceremony and the reception.
