Prince William and Kate Middleton: Fantasy Royal Wedding Cake Sketches

Top bakers dream up amazing wedding cake designs for Kate and Will's royal wedding.

The unicorn and lion depicted on Prince William's coat of arms are rendered in gumpaste, and function as pillars between the burgundy-colored tiers, accented with a fleur de lis pattern. The ermine pattern is meant to resemble the fur trim of St. Edward's crown.

The base of each tier is studded with sugar gems and pearls, with a molded sugar recreation of the royal crown as a topper (a sugar sapphire—inspired by Kate's engagement ring—is displayed as the center jewel). The entire confection, measuring five feet tall, is placed atop an ornate cake stand commissioned for the occasion. Cake by Elizabeth Hodes Custom Cakes
