"The bride and groom honored each other, their families, and their culture by integrating a Korean ritual, the paebaek, into what was otherwise a traditional Western wedding. This custom symbolizes the joining of two families: After showing respect to their families and receiving their blessings, the couple bow deeply to each other. This is considered one of the moments that seal their marriage. The lighting helped preserve the colors and the integrity of the moment."
The Best Picture Show
For the fourth year running, we asked members of the Wedding Photojournalist Association to send us their favorite candid shots. From the thousands that were submitted, we chose the 10 images that most honestly capture the essence of a couple's big day—the tears, the joy, the love, the humor, and the spirit of this momentous occasion. In their own words, the winning photographers explain what made these pictures click.
