In honor of Cinco de Mayo, we've got some essential do's and don'ts for planning a honeymoon in Mexico. Keep these in mind when you take your next trip and you'll be sure to have un gran viaje.

DON'T drink the water (brush your teeth with bottled); avoid drinks with ice cubes.
DO head to the Mega, a Mexican version of Walmart, if you need to stock up on supplies (like sunscreen) and inexpensive souvenirs (like cinnamon-spiked hot-cocoa mix).
DON'T forget your passport when driving; you may need it if you're stopped.
DO think twice about having dinner at sunset. Keep in mind that as you near the equator, there's less and less twilight—so you might end up spending most of your meal in the dark.
DON'T wear bikini tops and short-shorts in towns and villages—locals dress modestly, despite the climate.
