Emergency! The case of the missing bustle

Courtesy of Christina Gould

I was just at a wedding where the bride took her wedding dress to a friend's mother for tailoring. Since the mother wasn't used to sewing bridal gowns, she neglected to put in the loops and buttons you need to bustle the train—which the bride didn't discover until she was getting ready for the reception! Luckily, a guest had a sewing kit in her clutch, and managed to improvise a bustle. We always tell brides to put together an emergency kit with aspirin, Band-aids, and lots of white thread—now you know why! —Christina, BRIDES Magazine
