The woman who made rocking a LBD (little black dress) on her wedding day chic is breaking our hearts. Sarah Jessica Parker recently opened up that she actually regrets wearing a black dress to her wedding to Matthew Broderick.
Even though SJP has worn white wedding dresses on-screen while marrying John James Preston, when it came to her own wedding she went a very chic, alternative route: a black dress. Thanks to her recent revelation to Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live, the former Sex and the City star explained that she actually regrets wearing black to marry her husband, according to ET Online. "I was too embarrassed to spend any time looking for a wedding dress, so I just — there was a store I liked and I knew, and I just went and got whatever they had hanging." If only every bride's wedding dress shopping experience were that easy!

The actress, 51, married Broderick, 54, on May 19, 1997 in a surprise wedding with 100 unassuming guests, who thought they were in for another party. On the big day, SJP wore a black dress that she literally bought off the rack (allegedly the first one she saw) that wouldn't attract any attention. "I was too embarrassed to wear white, and both Matthew and I were reluctant to have people pay so much attention to us," she told Marie Claire. Little did she know that the dress would be an iconic, fashion-forward choice that inspired brides for years to come.
And while Andy Cohen and the rest of the bridal world found her choice to be chic and totally badass, the actress expressed regrets about her decision and responded, "No I would do it differently." This isn't the first time she's felt that white dress FOMO. In 2009, the SATC star told Harper's Bazaar that she would renew her vows and wear a white dress that time. "I'd waer a beautiful, proper wedding dress, like I should have worn that day," she told the mag.
Still, we can't help but wonder if her nonchalant wedding day pick has anything to do with a successful marriage. She and Broderick have been married for 19 years with three kids, and are still going strong. If that's not a case for a black dress decision, we're not sure what is!
