Pop the bubbly and put on some dancing tunes because we've finally, finally, finally got a peek at some secret celebrity wedding photos that we've been waiting for since, oh, 2013. So whose famous nuptial pic are we currently fawning over? That of Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard, and we're practically squealing over the cuteness of their simple courthouse wedding ceremony. After three years of keeping those pics under lock and key, during her appearance on CBS's Sunday Morning Bell finally revealed the sweet snapshots to the world, featuring her very non-traditional wedding day wear and their on-top-of-the-world loving looks. Sigh...
In October of 2013, Bell and Shepard said their "I do's" in a ceremony Shepard previously (and proudly!) claimed to be the world's worst wedding. The pair headed to the Beverly Hills courthouse to tie the knot, a wedding whose price tag would shock even budget brides, coming in at a mere $142 (gas to and from the courthouse included!) In an interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live! that same year, Shepard explained that the courthouse employees even gifted the pair with a wedding cake that read The World's Worst Wedding. "How many people can say they threw the world's worst wedding?" the actor proudly asked. But one look at those wedding photos (see below), and you'd know that their low-key nuptials were anything but. Come on, just look at their faces!
"We got married in a tiny room in the Beverly Hills courthouse and it was still one of the best days of my life," Bell said during her interview, presenting the pics we've been waiting for. There was no white wedding dress for this unconventional bride. Instead, Bell donned a simple black shirt and trousers for the big day, pairing the unfussy look with a metallic statement necklace. The groom, however, kept things a little more traditional in a black suit and bowtie.
In the photos, Bell is seen gazing at her guy as they sign their marriage license and gets a little teary-eyed as they say their vows. In another, the newlyweds share a smooch right in front of the county clerk's office window. So perfectly imperfect and proof that one doesn't need a million dollar budget to have the most romantic day of their life.
During her appearance, the actress also opened up about her hubby's struggle with addiction, saying, "He's a wonderful father. He knows the value of things. He was an addict for many, many years and he pulled himself out of it, and he's been sober for 11, 12 years now... He knows how many times he's messed up and how many times he's been really closing to losing everything."
Now the parents of two little girls and with one of the most solid marriages in Hollywood under their belts, these two hold their family above all else. "I always think, if I'm on my deathbed, what am I gonna be thinking about?" mused Bell. "And it won't be some random movie I participated in, or some TV show. It will be my family."
And to think, that all started at the Beverly Hills courthouse in a pair of plain black pants!
