We had the dress, venue, and reception tunes all picked out and ready to go for the day Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton finally admit that they were heading down the aisle. Okay, so we might have been jumping the gun just a tad, but come on — Stefani had caught the bouquet at a wedding she and Shelton previously attended and had been seen sporting a large diamond ring on that finger. Why wouldn't we believe that Shelton and Stefani were already writing their vows and booking caterers? Well, Stefani is setting the record straight once and for all!
The diamond pavé eternity band the "Make Me Like You" singer was wearing at L.A.'s Wango Tango music festival back in May was pretty darn convincing, especially considering that it was taking up residence on the finger that's been bare since Stefani's split from Gavin Rossdale. But according to Stefani herself, she's no bride-to-be and neither her nor her not-yet-fiancé are rushing to tie the knot after their recent respective divorces.
In a radio interview with 94.7 Fresh FM's The Tommy Show, Stefani decided it was time to set the record straight. "Let's just take it one day at a time," she said. "Everything's crazy right now so no, absolutely not. Can you imagine the amount of gossipy, weird stories people make up? To me, it makes me laugh every day. I actually do Google my name just so I can see the next one that's gonna happen, because it's gotten so out of control."
It sounds like the songstress has her hands pretty full with engagement ring rumor patrol. But at least she's laughing it all off. "The best part about it is it's hilarious," Stefani continued. "The worst part about it is that some people actually believe that stuff. Like, that is what's funny." Okay, Stefani, you totally can't fault us for believing that your new diamond ring was the diamond ring. But, hey, thanks to the singer setting the record straight, now we know for sure. Cue our breaking hearts...
Well, looks like we'll just have to put our Stefani/Shelton wedding Pinterest board on hold... for now.
