As the bride-to-be, your day before the big day is likely filled with manicures and pedicures (and mimosas!) with your bridesmaids. Your groom and his guys are probably less interested in primping, but there's still fun to be had before the rehearsal dinner. Here are five Chicago activities to help your groom and his groomsmen kick off the wedding weekend.
Rejuvenate at IVme
Most guys don't understand the value of a rejuvenating spa day. If your groom is one of them, suggest he visit IVme in the Gold Coast. It takes a different approach to the traditional day spa and induces feel-good vibes by restoring lost fluids and vitamins. It's especially useful for grooms: The Wellness & Vitality package can help reduce pre-wedding stress and deliver an energy boost that'll last until he boards the plane for the honeymoon. IVme also takes its treatments on the road and can bring oxygen and B12 shots straight to where the groom and his groomsmen are camped out.
Groom at Public Barber
Whether you want to take ho-hum grooming tasks off of his plate or don't trust him to get a smooth shave himself, set your fiance and his groomsmen up with hot lather shaves at Public Barber in Uptown. The well-designed space is worth the trip alone, and he'll be especially appreciative of the indulgent experience if he's handled beard shaving by himself since his teen years.
Relax at Corridor Brewery & Provisions
Most boozy brunches and lunches are restricted to the weekend. The recently opened Corridor Brewery & Provisions knows weekdays are prime time for celebrating, too. The craft brewery in the Southport Corridor area of Lakeview gives the guys a chance to sit back with a farmhouse ale or hoppy brew. Head Brewer Brant Dubovick's beers are only available on site, making it an experience that can only be had in Chicago. The restaurant's menu should not be overlooked, either: Rustic cuisine like chorizo and date-topped pizza baked in a clay hearth oven pairs perfectly with the beer.
Hit the Links at Fairways
Weather in Chicago can be hit or miss, so if golfing with friends is your guy's dream day, make it a sure thing by securing a reservation at Fairways in Lincoln Park. The indoor Golf Lounge is equipped with golf simulators and mini bars (though the Back Nine bar serving 18 local beers on draft is never too far away). The gastropub on the first floor serves as a solid lunch option, too, with interesting takes on American fare, like bacon-wrapped rabbit, shrimp-topped nachos, and wild boar bacon mac-n-cheese.
Let Loose at WhirlyBall
Bowling, craft beers, laser tag and WhirlyBall (a fusion of hockey, lacrosse, basketball, and bumper cars) all under one roof? It all comes to life at WhirlyBall's 50,000-square-foot space in Bucktown. Consider it the go-to spot for the groom looking to let loose and tap into his kid side before the serious and sentimental wedding to-dos begin.
