NFL Player Kyle Rudolph's Sunny Destination Wedding in Mexico

Real Weddings

Kyle Rudolph, tight end for the Minnesota Vikings, first met Jordan Nine their sophomore year of college at the University of Notre Dame. From their first encounter, the pair felt connected — Jordan's last name just so happened to be Kyle's football number throughout high school and college — and when friends commented that they were meant to be, the two couldn't help but feel the same. After five years together, Kyle decided to pop the question on October 8, 2015, while taking in views of the Cincinnati skyline from a park in Ohio.

The couple decided on a destination wedding in Los Cabos, Mexico, on February 13, 2016. "We absolutely love Cabo and had been to dinner at Hacienda Beach Club while on vacation two years ago," Jordan says of the tropical locale they chose for their big day. "We loved the location, the view, food, and how close it is to everything. It was the perfect place for our wedding." They dreamed up a relaxed and fun celebration, but maintained a formal feel for their destination I do's. Jordan and Kyle leaned on local planner Fatima Falcon to bring their vision to life. "Planning was a breeze!" says the bride. "Fatima made everything so easy for us. She would send me blogs of vendors she recommended and I just had to choose my favorite." But despite having an incredible planner at their disposal, the couple did struggle with the distance. "It was hard not seeing anything until the wedding day. I had an idea of what everything was going to look like, but there were no tastings, no picking out flowers, and no setting up tables. It was based entirely on pictures and trust."

The bride looked radiant in her strapless wedding dress from Allure Bridals. "It was the third dress I tried on and I loved it," she says. "I tried it on again at the end of my appointment with a veil and once I saw the look on my mom's face, I just knew this was it." It took Jordan and her mother less than an hour to decide on this beaded number, but the bride couldn't have been happier with the stunning silhouette.

Jordan's bridesmaids wore strapless blush gowns from Allure Bridals. The entire group of women carried bouquets of roses that were accented with island-appropriate succulents. The couple's wedding party included six adorable flower girls, all clad in pink dresses and sandals.

Kyle and his groomsmen all wore custom gray suits by Stephanie Shoff of Trunk Club.

Florenta Design created the couple's driftwood ceremony arch and decorated it with asymmetrical clusters of lush flowers. The bride's father walked her down the aisle where she met Kyle near the edge of the pool; the space gave their vows the look of an over water celebration.

Jordan and Kyle chose to recite traditional vows but personalized their ceremony with a unity candle ceremony. "That was interesting with the wind off of the ocean, however once we got it lit, it stayed lit even after the ceremony was over and everyone had walked away," says the bride. Once they were pronounced husband and wife, the newlyweds made their way back down the aisle to Daniel Jang's "Cheerleader."

With such a beautiful backdrop, it was no surprise that Jordan and Kyle chose an outdoor cocktail hour, where guests enjoyed ocean views and lots of local cuisine. There, the bride and groom got to enjoy the company of their 94 guests for the first time that day. "Having so many friends and family here for our wedding was so meaningful," says Jordan. "It was such a testament to us and all our relationships with those people. We will never be able to describe how much it meant to us to have them there."

After, the party moved inside Hacienda Beach Club for the couple's reception, where guests found rectangular tables topped with bright clusters of flowers. Bold-hued roses and greenery were arranged in antique-inspired gold vessels for a look that felt both formal and fun. Glittering gold table numbers completed the look.

The menu was entirely Mexican inspired. The bride and groom chose chicken and steak fajitas served with rice and beans. As their signature cocktail, obligatory margaritas were poured all night long.

The newlyweds cut into a single tier vanilla cake with buttercream frosting, then invited loved ones to join them for churros for dessert.

Following their week in Mexico, the bride and groom enjoyed a mini-moon in California. "Stay relaxed!" Jordan advises future brides. "All the little details you worry about before are so tiny that no one even notices them. Enjoy every moment because the day goes by so fast and remember to take time on your wedding day with your new husband."
