Selena Gomez is adding another title to her already impressive resume. She's already a chart-topping artist, a leading lady, a former Disney child star, and now she's taking on the most important wedding party role: maid of honor.
Gomez is stepping into the very important MOH shoes for her cousin and BFF Priscilla DeLeon. DeLeon announced her engagement and maid of honor pick in an Instagram photo (below) two days ago, captioning the sweet snap "maid of honor type". Side note: DeLeon is totally nailing the whole slyly-showing-off-the-engagement-ring-in-photos look. Not even Gomez's dreamy braid can take the attention away from that gorgeous sparkler!
The "Same Old Love" crooner is already the godmother to her nephew, DeLeon's son, so there's no doubt she can take on the responsibility of planning bridal showers and a bachelorette party. And since Gomez is the maid of honor, we have to assume she's getting a plus one, right? With ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber posting adorable, romantic throwback shots of the two of them on the regular, we can't help but think he's vying for that coveted wedding date spot. Bieber's dad is also getting ready to tie the knot himself, so maybe Gomez will be on that guest list too? (We can't be the only ones still hoping for a Julena reunion!)
If Gomez needs any advice on how to be the best maid of honor ever, she can always turn to bestie Taylor Swift, who totally dominated her recent maid of honor duties at BFF Britany LaManna's wedding. Swift totally killed the bridesmaid game from day one when she set up a private wedding dress shopping appointment for the then bride-to-be at Reem Acra's New York City showroom.
Shopping for wedding dresses was just the start of her epic maid of honor role. Swift ended her MOH term with the most tearjerking and heartfelt speech ever — when you're MOH writes love songs for a living you're basically guaranteed an amazing toast. "My favorite accomplishment of my entire life is that everything in my life has changed except for me and Britany," Swift said. "She was my partner in crime at Brownie's sleepaway camp and she was my date to the Grammys. And little did either of us know that prince charming for Britany would be the kid that sat next to me in class with a bowl cut and a Lego lunchbox."
We'd say Gomez should get some toast tips from Swift, but we have a feeling she'll be able to come up with an amazing thing or two to say about her bestie bride-to-be.
