Talk about a solid April Fool's joke! Monday morning we were totally taken aback by the apparent engagement of 90210 actress Jessica Lowndes and SNL actor, Jon Lovitz. Turns out, we were right to be shocked by this unlikely duo. It was all a hoax!
These two pranksters clearly know how to carry through with a joke! After taking their relationship to social media level, and posting their totally made-up relationship status in a series of surprising photos on Twitter and Instagram, it's safe to say that these fictional fiancés definitely had us fooled. It wasn't until the stunning 90210 star posted a video on Instagram yesterday confirming that she and her comedic partner in crime were both part of an elaborate holiday scheme. The video shows the 27-year-old actress talking to the camera while announcing her April Fool's Day hoax. "I know it's still the last week of March, but is it too early to say April Fools?" The starlet took things one step further by posting a celebratory video with her 58-year-old fake fiancé, dancing to the success of their jarring plan.
It wasn't until the Canadian native posted a breathtaking snapshot earlier this week, of her less-then-real engagement ring, that things really took a shocking turn. The unengaged jokester posted the flawless round-cut sparkler to her prank-filled Instagram feed, meticulously leaving out a caption. Now we know why!

But that wasn't the only sign that pointed to all things "bride-to-be!" The stunning star used the power of social media to seamlessly convince her followers (and pretty much everyone else) that her age-gap love story was simply a modern day romance. The actress first fueled the relationship rumors by posting a quote referencing to a possible Thai Proverb with the meaning, "Old cows like to eat young grass." Lowndes captioned the mysterious quote, "And I love me some old cows."
The convincing star took things further by posting a series of cryptic snapshots all hinting toward an abrupt romance between her and her SNL beau. Lowndes even posted a video pointing to her unlikely "fiancé" who seems to be filming her as if they just woke up. The elaborate plan even featured the caption, "When bae films you waking up in the morning. #TooOldToUseHashtags #MrBig."
Sadly, it looks like we won't be seeing this non-bride-to-be walking down the aisle anytime soon, unless she actually gets engaged!
