One of our favorite red carpet couples is no more! Just a little more than a month after we dubbed them one of the cutest couples of the Golden Globes and less than a year since announcing their to-be-wed status, Jaimie Alexander and Peter Facinelli have officially called off their engagement.

News that the couple was set to wed hit airwaves back in March of last year, after the former Twilight actor popped the question to Alexander atop of New York City's Empire State Building. Facinelli even called in a plane to circle the skyscrapper with a "You will you marry me?" banner for the big moment.

Since then, Alexander has been keeping busy planning their nupitals in-between slaying the small screen on her TV show, Blindspot — despite her self-proclaimed lack of the 'girly gene.' "If I could have someone else do it for me I'd be, like 'Great,'" the actress previously revealed to People. "I just don't have it in me, that, like, girly gene that's like, 'I need to be in a white dress.' I could be in a pair of jeans and be just as well." Fittingly, the couple planned to buck tradition on their wedding day, opting for action-packed nupitals, instead of fancy frocks and all that formality. "We're toying with the idea of doing something kind of stunt-oriented to just mix it up and doing something kind of wild and fun," said Alexander.

But unfortunately, that "stunt-oriented" ceremony will not come to be. (But it did sound awesome, didn't it?) The former twosome's representatives released a statement to Entertainment Tonight on Friday, reading, "Due to conflicting family and work commitments on opposite coasts, and after much consideration, Peter and Jaimie have chosen to part ways amicable and remain good friends."

Guess we'll just have to wait until two other stunt-loving sweethearts tie the knot to see such an action-packed wedding!
