4 Alternatives to the Traditional Wedding Thank-You Note

Invites & Stationery

Sending thank-you cards: the very last thing you'll do as part of your wedding adventure. While they may seem doable and not so bad before the wedding, after your wedding — when you're getting ready for your honeymoon and unpacking all of your wedding gifts — the last thing you'll want to do is sit down and write hundreds of thank-you cards. What makes matters worse, people only spend a few of minutes reading your note — and then they either put it in a drawer somewhere or toss it in the trash. So instead of sending a traditional thank-you note, here are four alternatives that your guests may enjoy.

1. Send a Video
Record yourself saying thank you, and send it off as a video clip (via email) to your guests. It will be a much more personal way of saying thank you (and a fun, interactive way as well!).

2. Send a Thank-You at the End of the Night
While it might not be that personal, you can send a thank-you note along with your party favor gift at the end of the wedding. That way, when the wedding is over, it will really be over, and you won't have to worry about writing out cards afterwards.

3. Online Postcards
If handwriting is not your thing, you can use online programs to type out your thank-you notes and even type in the addresses for the site to postmark and mail for you. That takes away the paper cuts and also the hassle of licking the envelopes shut — because that's half the battle, isn't it?

4. A Virtual Thank You
Whether it's an e-card or an email thank-you note, go paperless and send it digitally. Most people spend all of their time online and in their email inboxes, so receiving a thank-you card that way wouldn't be too out-of-the-ordinary for them.
