Ryan Gosling has been everyone's favorite pretend boyfriend ever since he brought Noah from The Notebook to life — and we've been totally envious of Rachel McAdams for getting to share a few steamy scenes with the Canadian actor. Well, we were envious of her until Gosling's real life romance with Eva Mendez started about four years ago. Since the couple got together they've been notoriously tight lipped about their private life, but Gosling's finally taking a moment to gush about his girl.
"I know that I'm with the person I'm supposed to be with," he said in an interview with Hello! Canada. Gosling also revealed what he looks for in a woman, "That she's Eva Mendes. There's nothing else I'm looking for." We're not positive but we thing Mendes may just be the luckiest girl in the world. Although Gosling was gushing about his gorgeous girlfriend he did reveal that there is one thing about her that he isn't quite so in love with — her taste in music. "She's obsessed with the Hanson Christmas album!," he revealed. "No disrespect to Hanson, they're very talented kids, but I think I've heard that record enough. I'm sure it will be on a loop this Christmas as well."
Gosling and Mendes first met in 2011 while filming their movie The Place Beyond the Pines. Rumors had been swirling that their relationship was on the rocks before the pair announced their pregnancy. The two seem to have been solid ever since.
The duo welcomed their first daughter Esmeralda Amada Gosling in September 2014 after keeping Mendes' pregnancy a secret for 7-months. This is their second Christmas as a family but it's definitely its own milestone for the family. "This will be our first Christmas where [Esmeralda is] sort of taking it all in, so that's exciting."
Not only is Esmeralda Amada a beautiful name but, the origin behind the pair's daughter's name makes it all the more special. Esermalda is a nod to Mendes' Hispanic heritage and it also happens to be the name of a character in her favorite book, The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Esmeralda also translate to "beautiful emerald" while Amada means "beloved" — how sweet is that?!
While there is no word on if a wedding is in the pair's future Mendes sparked engagement rumors when she was seen sporting a gorgeous emerald and gold ring. After further investigation we were sad to report that it's not one of those oh-so-important sparklers — the actress had been rocking the ring on her right hand while on red carpet appearances and in Instagram posts.
