It seems like only yesterday we were anxiously waiting to see who Kaitlyn Bristowe would end up with on the finale of The Bachelorette. We were elated to see Shawn Booth get down on one knee and pop the question with that gorgeous Neil Lane diamond. Bristowe and Booth's connection was almost instantaneous, so much so that Bristowe gave Booth the illusive first impression rose. Now, after obsessing over their romance all summer we are so excited to share our newest obsession: their engagement photos! Bristowe talks to BRIDES exclusively about the inspiration behind her engagement photo shoot, plans for her wedding, and basking in that newly-engaged glow.
The couple opted for a laid back outdoorsy setting for their pictures, and it is clear they felt totally at ease during their photo session. "It was our kind of setting, and we felt comfortable with our photographer, Tiffany," Bristowe says. "We both have a pretty good sense of humor and that helps!" The pictures were all taken outside and were a total mix of Bristowe's bohemian meets country asthetic. Let's be honest no one else could pull off a chambray shirt with a white tulle skirt!
Bristowe and Booth have been able to transition their TV love story into a real life romance, and according to Bristowe The Bachelorette was just the beginning. "I truly believe we were meant to be together. He is my type to a T. I didn't even know I had a type until I met Shawn. Everyone asked us how it was going to be when the fancy extravagant dates were over and the cameras were off, and we both agreed that we couldn't wait for that. It has only gotten better."
The couple's playful nature was evident as the gorgeous duo smiled up a storm during the photos. Bristowe even dished to us her best advice for other newly engaged couples who are looking to keep that newly-engaged glow. "Take advantage of re-entering the honeymoon phase!! Call each other fiancé an obnoxious amount of times. You only get so long to do so before you call him husband for the rest of your life! Travel and do new things together, start traditions."
And Bristowe has definitely been taking her own advice. It seems like every Instagram she posts with her adorable fiancé is in a new city. They have so much globe-trotting experience that honeymoon planning will be a breeze. "That's another reason we know we are good together. Because we are great at traveling together. Traveling is stressful!!! We bring cards on the plane, play games, have a glass of wine! We also find a series we are both into! We are on the last season of Lost! Got through a lot of those episodes on a plane."
The former Bachelorette doesn't just drink wine for traveling, she knows that champagne is always appropriate. The creative couple thought outside of the typical kissing photo for their engagement session with an aerial shot of the two holding champagne glasses and sharing a smooch. This photo looks straight out of a dream Pinterest board and we're pretty sure they've just started the newest engagement photo trend of 2016.
While Bristowe admitted she's in the early stages of wedding planning she did spill that a TV wedding is definitely not out of the question, we may even see some of her former Bachelor co-stars in attendance (fingers crossed)! "Don't be surprised if you see Whitney Bischoff or Becca Tilley in my wedding party!! #finalthree" Excuse us while we fantasize about the amazing Bachelor reunion that might be taking place...
Bristowe and Booth will start wedding planning in the new year and according to her, Booth plans to be involved heavily— could this girl be any luckier? The bride-to-be admitted that organization and planning aren't necessarily her strongest suits, but luckily it sounds like her groom-to-be is totally there to help.
While the couple hasn't decided much about their wedding details yet, they do know they want the focus to be on fun. "I will most likely splurge on the open bar, and save on my dress. I'm good at finding good deals!! (I just read this response to Shawn and he said, "sounds about right")." Umm any chance we can snag an invite, sounds like it's already going to be the event of the year!
Even though she's done most of her wedding dress shopping on Pinterest, we have a feeling she already has an aesthetic in mind. We are dying over her lace gown with a plunging neckline and bohemian headband. She totally nails the whole Coachellameets bride look and we can't help but swoon over Booth in a sleek black suit.
The bride-to-be might not know much about her upcoming nuptials yet but there's one thing she's sure about, her plans for a family with Booth. "I've always dreamt about having kids more so than my wedding day. When it comes to colors, flowers, dresses... no idea. But if you ask me about kids; how many I want, names, genders? I'll have a full list for you!" With an upcoming wedding and a family planned in the near future we are so glad Bristowe's sharing her journey with us every step of the way.
