Cold feet? More like wet feet! The age-old saying that a rainy wedding day means good luck was taken to a new level recently during an English wedding ceremony. Peter and Lucy Nickson tied the knot in monsoon-like flooding conditions at Selby Abbey in North Yorkshire last weekend.

The couple used their special rainy-day luck to get married after heavy rainfall conditions had already cancelled other weddings and events in the area, according to Mashable. And luck they definitely had — we'll set the scene: the newlyweds exchanged vows shortly after trekking to the church in their Wellington rainboots as emergency sirens blared, rivers flooded just yards away, and homes and vehicles were submerged from heavy rainfall hitting the town. Needless to say, it made for some interesting (and fun!) wedding portraiture.

As with any outdoor wedding planning, the bride stayed glued to the Environment Agency weather website, keeping an eye on flood warnings in her ceremony and reception's immediate area. In true pre-wedding-day fashion, she had a sleepless night worrying about her guests making it safely.

Luckily, the coast was clear — even though streets were flooded just yards away — and all of the couple's guests arrived safely (albeit not totally dry) to the ceremony and reception venues. Regardless of the weather conditions, the wedding was pulled off seamlessly, and the bride and groom enjoyed a wonderful night indoors with family and friends. In our eyes, it's the ultimate sign of luck for a wedding when it's raining so hard that your town floods!

We're wondering if umbrellas or ponchos were given out as wedding favors, as clearly, having a "wet wedding" doesn't just mean that there's an open bar anymore!
