The wedding day can be full of stress and anxiety for any bride. So to counter some of that excess energy, a lot of brides will do some light exercise — think a quick yoga session between glasses of champagne. But professional tennis player Arina Rodionova is taking that idea to a whole other level.
The Russian tennis pro will be playing a semifinal-qualifying match for the Australian Open at 9 a.m. this Saturday, CNN reports, which also happens to be the day of her wedding to Ty Vickery, an Australian rules football player. A high stress-sporting event is definitely one way to keep your mind off anxiety! In fact, Rodionova is actually excited about the two events taking place on the same day. "It's great as the tennis will take my mind off the wedding, but the wedding will also take my mind off the tennis. I'd probably recommend getting married the same day as a match to all tennis players..." Rodionova told CNN.

The match was originally set for 4 p.m. which would've forced Rodionova to choose between her wedding and the opportunity to earn a spot at the Australian Open. After speaking with tournament organizers, they agreed to move the match to the morning. "The priority has always been the wedding, if the match had been any later then I would have really considered not playing," Rodionova said. "There wasn't a chance I was going to miss my wedding to play in the semifinal but, thanks to the tournament directors and the referee, they managed to move it. I was begging them, it was a big discussion we had."
Rodionova having to convince the organizers to move the entire match makes the thought of dealing with any other wedding-day disaster a total breeze. Oh and if you weren't already convinced this was going to be Rodionova's craziest week ever, if she wins the match she'll be playing yet another game that Sunday and celebrating her 26th birthday later that week. Rodionova even called this the "biggest week of my life," and we can't really disagree with her there. "It's going to be a crazy, exciting day. The wedding is my priority and it happens only once in a lifetime, so I'll have a glass of champagne or two if I win, and if I lose I'll have a glass of champagne or two as well," Rodionova said.
