Your engagement photo shoot may be the first time that you and your fiancé have ever posed together for professional photographs and that is perfectly okay! Consider this a practice session for all the smiling and arranged handholding, eye-gazing photos that you'll take together on your wedding day. A lot of couples will use these photos to print on their save-the-dates or as decoration in their wedding day guest book. So, in order to add a glimpse of your personality to these photos, here are four tips to make your engagement photo shoot reflect you and your sparkle.
Select a Theme
Adding a theme to your engagement shoot can make your photos stand out and be cohesive, especially if you're planning on using multiple of them to decorate your guest book or to create a collage on your wedding website. You can select a theme that is based on season, your favorite sports team, shared hobby, or even color.
Go Someplace Special
Location, location, location! If there are one or two places that have a lot of meaning to both of you or remind you of something special about your relationship, consider taking your photos there. That will add life and love to your photos and lend to interesting stories when people ask why you chose that specific spot to take your photographs.
Don't Be Afraid to Act Silly
Let your personality shine with funny photos. Scour Pinterest to find different types of photos you like, whether they are of a couple jumping, or doing something silly, take a batch of photos like that so you have plenty to choose from later.
Ask for Candid Shots
While your photographer may want to take a couple of photos of you two posed and put together nicely, ask if she can take a couple of you two candidly, having a conversation, telling each other your favorite joke, or even flipping through photos of you two throughout the years.
