The first year of marriage is an emotional time for couples. The year is filled with changes, love, laughter and tears. In one couple's case there were lots of tears. Aaron Gillis and his wife Lex had been married for a year when Gillis noticed his wife may have some overactive tear ducts. That's when he decided to write down all the things that made his wife cry over the course of one month and the list had us tearing up too. Well... maybe we were crying tears of laughter.
The London-based comedy writer titled the list "Reasons My Wife is Crying" and shared it on Twitter. Since Sunday the list has been retweeted more than 24,000 times and the original image has been viewed more than 4 million times on imgur. Woah, we couldn't help but wonder if Gillis' list brought on more tears for his wife but don't worry— he told HuffingtonPost she was totally in on the joke.
"I thought it would get about 12 retweets from people that know Lex in real life and know what she is like," he told HuffPost. "Neither of us thought it would go this big! But so many people are identifying with it, maybe sensitivity is seen as something not many people talk about openly, so seeing someone show it started a rather large conversation!"
Gillis has started more than a conversation but a full on Internet sensation! People have not stopped retweeting the list and one user even made a GIF of a piglet running around followed by Jess from New Girl (Zooey Deschanel) sobbing. One list item read, "She was hungover and saw a picture of a piglet," which gave us a fantastic idea for the next big wedding trend (or at least what we hope becomes a trend); adding pictures of baby animals to your hangover cure kit. You'll probably want to make another category on your pinterest board dedicated to adorable hangover curing pics.
After we completed a thorough investigation of Gillis' list we have to admit some of these things would, and have, made us cry too. Videos of dogs, fluffy bunnies escaping foxes and the unexpected handholding are definitely tear inducing.
The cutest thing on the list though was definitely number 8: "I cooked her dinner after a long day," We think this would make anyone shed a tear or two too. I mean how adorable is this guy! Who wouldn't love to come home after a stressful day and be surprised with a home cooked meal? Even though it's only been a year we think this guy has the husband thing down!
